Scarisbrick Hall School Entrance being moved
https://www.southportvisiter.co.uk/n...-move-14039868
According to a Highways Report prepared for the application, drivers leaving the school have a visibility of just 40m, whereas the recommended distance for a 40mph road is 120m.
So why are they only moving it 35 metres?

Well, its a recommended but not required distance
Maybe because moving it 35 meters on that section of road (away from the curve) will give the required visibility? The reason its being moved is to increase visibility, so I am sure that where ever they move it to will have been well thought out.

I've done that exit hundreds of times, always been a gamble. I don't think there has ever been an accident there, but wise to move it

The details were missing in that article. They might not have involved the Hall exit. The Gorsuch Lane junction itself is tricky for traffic emerging onto the main road, without including the Hall exit. I would favour the mini-roundabout idea, but I am sure that all proposals have been evaluated.

How long has this junction been there ?????
Get real , while you're wasting more taxpayers money the Red Lion bridge is dodgy why not replace and widen that.
Speed humps would probably be just as effective.

Are you new to this forum?
1st rule of this forum - never, I repeat never, let the facts get in the way of some good old fashioned florid faced righteous indignation.

Salus isn't that new. You seem to be patronising (and indignant)? Not sure of the reason for your complaint.

Yeah what a great idea, lets put speed humps on one of the busiest roads into the town we live.

He did allow the facts into him comment. He followed up with a view on what taxpayers' money should be spent upon. I didn't see florid faced indignation.
You aren't one of those people who incomprehensibly spend money on private education for non-academic kids are you ?

It took me a while to realise it was Ausard's comment that was getting the flack.
Of zero interest to anybody in Southport, but I live in a sort of School's quarter, with three private schools and a state grammar within about 300m of my house. The council has spent a couple of million on road works that have been running since July, mostly to protect the admirable few kids with full use of their legs from the 4x4's of those who are too precious to stick on a bus.

My very academic son got 12 GCSEs, 11at A or A*, at a State school. Surely it would have been a waste of money to pay for his education as he couldn't have done much better.
Perhaps it is the non-academic who need money spending on their education.
