Restaurant's Slates for Plate's
Went for a nice Meal the other night, much enjoyed, the only down side was the serving of the Food on, what appeared to be, a roofing slate or a large heavy Bread board. How clean these are, is anybodies guess!
What ever happened to good old hot white plates? I'm sure the serving staff are of the same opinion.

Drives me insane! My daughter has difficulty with her fine motor skills. We were in a Southport eatery and she wanted a baked potato with cheese, beans and salad. The potato came in a tiny cooking pot on a bread board with salad sliding off. Cheese and beans were trying to escape the pot. I asked for a plate so I could help her cut the food up etc. Waitress looked blank and waltzed off. Gave up and ordered a cake and guess what it came on a plate! So when I stated 'So you do have plates then I received the second blank face.

It was a good opportunity to ask them to put the bill on the slate too...
I was recently with my daughter at a fancy coffee shop in central London, and our desert was served in small jam jars.
The coffee was served in different China cups and saucers ... it's very "IN"
to eat and drink this style today.
Some places serve you the frying pan on the table.
I think I prefer my meals served on traditional crockery.

Perhaps the beer sodden floorboards from the "Shake" could be cut to size and used to serve the spotted dick on.
