Decided to pay a visit to Preston this afternoon to take advantage of the River Walks alongside the River Ribble. Miller Park and Avenham Park - The Victorian gardens are well tended, lawns manicured and the paths are wide and smooth. One can walk for miles and there are many original undamaged features to see. The park was pretty busy with many people around, cyclists, dog walkers, etc., it was really relaxing with the lack of traffic noise or youths running riot. The park was devoid of the attention of vandals and the police were on patrol all over Preston.

We walked in various directions, there are many children's playgrounds and several sports fields - free parking all around. Historical buildings have been maintained and even the new housing projects have been thoughtfully placed.

The afternoon was really pleasant - but brought back the reflection of a once well cared for happy, Victorian sea side resort that was very popular with tourists and family outings and also company meetings.
