Oh dear! That's sad. Had many an uncontrollable belly laugh watching him, over many years.
R.I.P Ken.
Just be yourself, no one else is better qualified!!

The words 'iconic' and 'legend' are used far too cheaply these days, but Sir Ken was a true legend.

May God Bless him! In all the years I have seen him - he was always smiling - I wish there were more people who had the gift of happiness. He will always be remembered.

The phrase "there will never be another like him" tends to be somewhat hackneyed and overused.
In this case it is true.
Orwell said "If there is hope, it lies in the proles." Whilst champagne socialists see diversity idealised at university, the common folk experience it first hand in their neighbour hoods.

He was a very humble man, and lived in the same home in knotty ash. Did a very gentlemanly thing and married his 40 year lady partner .

Had the pleasure of seeing "Doddy" live on stage three times during the 60's and 70's, each time within no time flat he had the audience in his pocket and with what became almost traditional we only "escaped" long after the supposed end of the show.
Sir Ken Dodd, proprietor of the treacle mines and the jam butty mines, Squire of Knotty Ash and Crown Prince of stand up, RIP Sir.

I like hearing about his early like and how he became a performer.
The hard work he put into it.
