Prince of Wales Hotel 10 minute parking fee warning.

Was informed last night that the Prince of Wales now has a "Parking Eye" ANPR system installed on their car parking area, with only a 10 minute limited stay time allowed. And,if anyone goes over the allotted 10 minutes, then they will receive an automatic "Parking Charge" of £100.00 for overstaying the time allowed.

Mentioning this,as,being a Private Hire driver, and any driver getting a pickup from there, the driver WILL get a fine for overstaying the 10 minutes while waiting. So we have now been warned, and anyone else using the car park,be very careful as to how long you stay there.

Surely this would fall in the 'throw it in the bin' parking charge notice category, unenforceable.

Allegedly there are between 5-10 drivers PER WEEK getting notices issued through the post, obviously totally unaware until they get back home.

Typical of Brittania Hotel Group to NOT inform their patrons BEFORE THEY PARK ON THE HOTEL CAR PARK....

How will that work with guests ? After all if they check in first then there will be times that that takes more than 10 minutes ? Are they supposed to pay for the parking or it free and if it is free for guests how are the exempted from the system ??

Probably brought in the charge because there is only limited space. £4 isn't so bad considering the convenience of being parked right outside and arguably better security-wise than leaving it parked on-street somewhere.

I take it you're happy paying to park in and around Lord Street?

Imagine if all the supermarkets started to charge their customers to park in their car parks.

It's a blatant rip off and should be free for hotel guests.

Parking Eye was probably only introduced to stop non hotel guests from using their car park.
