Pot Holes
Some time ago I asked members of this forum to let me know of pot holes in Southport roads and I would pass the information on to the Council and ask for them to be repaired.
Here is an update.
1. Waterloo Road o/s number 123.
2. Ryder Crescent.
3. Sandon Road junc with Dunbar Road.
4. Arundel Road.
5. Roe Lane/ Grange Road junction.
6. Ash Street o/s KwikFit.
7. Church Street - Hoghton St end.
8. Liverpool Road junc Norfolk Road.
9. Liverpool Road junc Farnborough Road.
10. Liverpoold Road o/s 348,352.
11. St Lukes Road near Rose Hill.
12. Station Road between Royal Bank of Scotland and Leamington Road.
13. Manchester Road between Queens Rd and Lord Street.
14. Hoghton Street o/s YMCA.
15. Forest Road o/s number 86.
16. Forest Road near Chambres Rd North.
17. Forest Road near to Back Forest Road.
18. Promenade between Leicester St and Seabank Road.
19. Promenade between Bank Square and Neville St (and o/s number 59).
With reference to 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,13,14,15,16,17,18 - the Highways department will ensure that these are repaired within 28 days.
Reference 3 - They say that the road will be resurfaced in April 2011.
Reference 11 - They say they cannot find any pot holes.
Reference 19 - They are not prepared to effect these repairs at this time.
I will be checking on "11 & 19" tomorrow, but I would be grateful of other peoples views regarding these locations.
I have also submitted 15 other locations that they are currently checking out.
Please keep me informed of any other large and potentially dangerous potholes and I will pass the details on to Sefton Highways Department.
Thank you, Terry Durrance.

Add Town Lane (the Kew Estate side) to that list.
Don't tell anyone about your troubles. Half of them don't care, and the other half are glad it happened to you.
It's ok if you disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

Ash street, cemetery road opposite Quick fit you can see the cobbles,
all the way down Queens road,
then Cambridge road are both littered with them,
off Cambridge road as you turn into Churchill avenue, a very big one!
Benthams way opposite Christ the King school in the gutter,
Waterloo road/ Grosvenor road traffic lights heading back to Ainsdale from Southport just as you go through the lights.
Town lane opposite the hospital just past the bus stop next to a grid heading towards Tesco.
If in your nice letter you could mention about cleaning up after themselves also?
On the small roundabout down Guilford road/ Grantham road a lot of loose stones they didn't remove from a fix same by the hospital which is VERY dangerous on a motorbike. Thank you in advance.

In you search for pot holes, it would be far easier to give you a list of roads that don't have pot holes!
The whole of Southport's roads are now in such a bad condition that they'll probably need a 'bale out' from Europe to bring the roads back up to scratch.
Sefton's Highway Engineers (LOL) have been negligent in their approach to highway maintenance in the Southport area.
They have overseen the surface dressing on various roads last year and all these road surfaces have failed, the treatment in a large number of them was inadequate from the start with no surface preparation before the laying of the chippings and it was
undoubtedly done when weather conditions were against this type of treatment, likewise the micro surface which has been laid on various roads with no hope of a satisfactory surface finish being achieved.
The people we employ to maintain our highways give the gypo's a bad name when it comes to laying "tarmac" surfacing.

Hall Street near to the junction with Hawkshead Street is terrible. I have only driven at night but I think they have been marked with white paint, but I am sure that has been the case for several weeks!

On Town Lane, when approaching the roundabout, which is at the junction with Town Lane Kew.
To make it clearer, start at Tesco and go down Folkestone Road. At the end of Folkestone Road, turn right into Town Lane. Just before the roundabout, there is a crater, not a pot hole.

Yes, that's right. Despite the fact that I have never ridden a motornike, I drive for a living, have passed a more rigorous test than most other people on the roads and cover in excess of 50,000 miles per year without incident. So I am obviously not experienced or intelligent enough to be able to spot something that may be a danger to somebody else
I am quite capable of appreciating the dangers without necessarily having it patronisingly spelt out to me, ta very much.

You may be an avid poster on SGB but 'reading minds' isn't one of your virtues
The comment about Sefton's Engineers department giving gypo's a bad name was made in a rhetorical sense and it was meant as I implied, I certainly didn't mean 'it makes them look like craftsmen' because craftsmen wouldn't have made such a mess as is evident on the roads which have been resurfaced.
We all Know the mess that the gypo's can leave and other tradesmen then have to rectify their mess; which is probably what is needed in relation to surface dressing/micro surface which has been so badly laid.

You can add the whole Weld Rd roundabout to that list.

Yeah, that's where I meant, I keep playing dodgems down there.
