    Phones take over your life.

Had a simple ring in ring out phone.
Kids say get a smart one.
Trouble is I carry it everywhere.
In the shower in the bathroom.
    Scared of missing something.
    But I am missing nowt.
    Devil in disguise,

    Red face

Like you Whippy, I have a simple clamshell type phone and refuse to consider a smart phone. I don't want to use social media and can check emails on my computer a couple of times a day. My phone has a loud ring so I can leave it somewhere central in the house and forget about it, just like the landline. The only time it goes in my pocket is if I'm going out for any length of time, and thats usually for emergencies.
Life's too short to spend half of it staring at a screen oblivious to everything else happening around you, and as for these people who have them glued to their ear or face wherever they are and whatever they are doing - get a life guys and girls !

That's all I need most of the time. It's smaller, lighter weight, cheaper to run and fits pocket way better....Always someone nearby with an I-phone to ask, on rare occasion I need internet access e.g. for train times, map info.
    , etc

Ha!Ha! Stood on Birkdale Station the other day, waiting for a train. There were three people on the Southport side, out of six people, talking on a phone, and there were three out of four people on the Liverpool side, talking on a phone. It was quite funny, two on each side were pacing back and forwards at right angles to one another, while the other paced diagonally to them, everyone could hear what they were discussing. I honestly felt like going and getting an old fashioned telephone receiver to stand there in front of these people, and pretend that I was also talking into it - that would have been funny.
I do not need a phone to talk to people, I can do that anywhere. I carry a phone only when I am travelling in case I get held up, otherwise - what on earth do people find to talk about all the time? I would get really p...off if I had to keep answering the phone.
