Monday Morning and Northern are shouting that 75% of trains that have been taken out on the 'Emergency Timetable' will be running from today but the 6 trains between Southport & Blackburn are not included, another let down!
Another week passes and what has happened, nobody of any influence is complaining so Northern fail cancel 6 into the town and 7 departures.
Time to ditch this company and time to ditch the Politicians, get somebody in who will at least make some noise!

I think Mr O'Leary would do a brilliant job but he's busy.

Now after last Sundays debacle when even some of the Southport Wigan 'services' were cancelled we are informed this situation is to continue until at least the end of the month!
If this carries on the town is going to be deserted, The Flower Show is upon us followed by the Bank Holiday, What is our Politicians doing about this, Not a peep from any Councillors or any Council Official, next to nothing from our MP, nothing from neighbouring MP's and absolutely nothing from the BID.

The Rail Service Management seem to be content to run the services at a loss. There are several stations where people can get on a train and alight further along the lines without paying for a ticket.
There are several ways in which the Rail Services can make greater profits - but it does not appear that anyone is interested in doing so. They take the easy option in increasing fares instead. Is this because by doing so, they will receive less money from grants from the Government?
It is high time that the Railways became nationalised once again, under a public agency of employees who are experienced in running railways. The whole service is becoming a massive farce!

Northernrailway are far more diligent about collecting fares than Merseyrail who seldom come round checking tickets and even when they do if you don't have one they can't sell you one they just tell you to buy one at the other end. Apart from Southport & the Liverpool stations there are no ticket checks even at the manned stations, I had my ticket checked yesterday by the roaming band of checkers, this was only the 2nd or 3rd time this year and I make 30+ journies per month.
