Why?
They are no different to Asda, they probably stock less imported items than Tesco or Asda.

They no longer have a 'Special relationship' with the UK.

That's putting it mildly, leaving on a 'no-deal' basis will be very bad news indeed. If it does come to that, many (i.e. the majority of residents) will demand a 'peoples vote' before we all jump off that cliff.......

A "no deal" Brexit is the only way we're going to get anything approaching the real Brexit that the public voted for. Traitor May and the other remainers running the Conservative-In-Name-Only government are trying their best to keep us wedded forever to all that is wrong about the EU. They will not be forgiven.

I'm sure, like Cameron, they'll lose sleep over that.
What exactly did the public vote for in the advisory referendum? The government don't know what 'deal or no deal' means yet, apart from they are confident the whole country is going to struggle for a long time if we leave without a deal. Even the leader of the Brexit Taliban, Rees Mogg, says it will take 50 years before we see the benefit of leaving.
As Aldi and Lidl don't produce anything, as opposed to, say, car manufacturers, I assume they'll have to find a way to source products in this country or pay tariffs on imports. I suppose it will mean big price rises for us ordinary folk. World Trade Organisation rules mean that we should be OK, as long as other countries don't object to our quotas. Unfortunately, New Zealand, among a few others, already have.
I do think the government is offering a 'worst case scenario', so whatever they come up with won't seem too terrible, but I still reckon the average person is going to be far worse off.

Everybody talks about the all effects it will have on 'US' but lets not forget there will be the same effects on 'them' (the whole of the EU) !
Impositions on trade OUT of the UK, will also apply to trade into the UK from the EU - do Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Fiat etc want a tariff on cars into the UK ?
Same for travel (Passport Control) no longer will there be an EU passports only channel, EU visitors will have to queue with the rest of the world, whilst us Brits go to the UK only Passport channel :-)
So, ask yourself - who will suffer the most IF the EU attempts to impose a wide band of restrictions to the UK!

Aldi is a German company.
Back in 2012.

.........…"Sky News has confirmed that budget chain Aldi, with a 3% market share, paid £12.7m in UK corporation tax last year, on a profit of £70.5m.
Asda, which is owned by the US-based retail giant Walmart, has 17.6% share and paid £163m in tax.
Meanwhile the UK-based leader Tesco, with 31% of the market, paid £694m in tax in 2011."

"Lidl, which has around 600 stores in the UK with plans for a further 900, paid "more than £25m" in tax on the profits earned here in 2013.
Based on analysis by Kantar Retail, that is an effective corporation tax rate of about 20%.
That would be similar if slightly lower than the average rate paid by UK rivals such as Sainsbury's and Morrisons."

I admire your concern for our partners in mainland Europe. However, we should be focussing now on the significant negative effect it will have for us here in the UK.

It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference what nationality the owners are, there probably isn't a company in this country that isn't part non UK owned in some way.

Do you think Aldi and Lidl will have to pay import duties or more tax
after Brexit?
