Nerja.
Anyone had a holiday in Nerja Southern Spain , I'm told it's very nice but there are a lot of hilly areas in the towns , any constructive comment would oblige.

I have friends with a villa there and they love it, day tripped there once and I thought it was really nice and completely unlike the overdeveloped resorts full of uncouth masses that you find South of Malaga. Definitely one of the better Spanish seaside towns.
If you want a pound a pint lager and full English breakfasts go South. If you want Essex by the Sea go to Marbella.

It is a lovely resort - relatively low rise compared to most Costa resorts. No direct train from Malaga as on the other side of the city, but the newish motorway is a fast road so it doesn't take too long to get there. No gangs of stags and hens - a much more relaxed resort - The main beach is Burriana beach which is at the bottom of a steep slope - the main town area, much of which is pedestrianised is at the top of the cliff so it is a down hill walk to the beaches and back up again, but the town itself is fairly flat - the beaches at the end away from Burriana are on the level with the roads though. It is also not to far for a day trip to Granada - well worth while if you haven't been there before. Also a nice little white town a couple of miles inland - Frigliana - which is easily reached on the local bus.

Thank RC , very informative, the steep slopes are a concern for a wheel chair though .

It i a bit steep going down to Burriana and the other beaches on that side of the town - we stayed at the Riu Monica which is at the Malaga side of town and whilst it is uphill to the town, centred on the Balcon De Europa, it is manageable with a wheelchair - just check where you accommodation is located before you book - there are some good apartment complexes but they can be a good way back from the town. If you do get somewhere at the front near Burriana, it won't be too expensive for a taxi into town - and you could probably find a way round avoiding the very steep slopes - as I am typing an remembered the Parador which overlooks Burriana has a lift down to the beach level - here is a tripadvisor review - A bit outside the centre of Nerja, but at a beautiful spot near the coast. Views are incredible and a special lift to the beach is a superb facility. Rooms can be offered with nice balconies and this provides you with a private setting looking over the sea. That would give you the best of both worlds - flattish walk into town, and access to the best beach in the town. http://www.parador.es/en/paradores/parador-de-nerja Hope you can make it - it is a lovely town, and the paella on Burriana is some of the best
