Morons on the road
'Thanks' to the idiot coming along the slip road off Southport Road towards Tesco petrol station on Saturday afternoon, and who came straight across the junction by the entrance to The Old Duke, and then shouted 'D***head at me for trying to turn right in front of him.
I've got news for you 'sir'. There are give way signs on that bit of road at that junction and a double row of dotted lines on the tarmac, so you're the 'd***head' for not stopping.
It's probably pointless writing this as morons like that don't listen to others anyway, but it makes me feel better.

I always use caution when approaching that junction. It is at that point the other driver makes the assumption i'm letting them go and pulls out anyway. You are correct, there is a give way sign and they should stop until you have turned. I'm afraid nothing will change the behaviour of other motorists.
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants, they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

There is but the person who started the thread is talking about the slip road that leads from the big roundabout upto Tesco.

Or - whilst driving to the standard expected of a 'competent' driver and, using your observational skills to the full - you should have seen that the speed the other vehicle was doing, approaching the junction, meant the driver was either unaware of the give way or was ignoring it.
So - instead of turning across him you could have slowed or waited then carried on without the need for any altercation.
As for 'morons on the road' - there is one class of 'professional' driver to whom this description is particularly apposite.
These drivers display the following tendancies to varying degrees -
Stopping abruptly without any warning.
U-turns across traffic - usually at an inappropriate place.
Stopping in a place most likely to obstruct the traffic.
Parking up in a place most likely to obstruct traffic - Sainsburys Lord Street rank is a good example.
Standing in the road obstructing traffic whilst gossiping with the drivers of other similar vehicles - again Sainsburys Lord Street rank is a good example.
Demonstrating aggression or a minimum of a bad attitude when challenged on any of the above.

It's not in the strict sense, a public highway but part of Tesco estate.
As such are give ways, roundabouts, no entry signs, zebra crossings, speed limits etc on these type of roads mandatory and enforceable?

There are a lot of drivers that don't have a clue. Assuming the fact they are going in a straight line gives them right of way. It is a nasty junction, but you're right you did have right of way. Just always assume other drivers are idiots and keep your self safe.

If driver's are confused just going round the local Tesco's - they had better keep well clear of Manchester city where the road layouts and signage are causing massive problems and netting in millions in fines!

I was driving into Morrisons car park the other day from the main entrance on Victoria Way when some complete waste of oxygen came down the slip road from the Esplanade and pulled straight out in front of me at the roundabout, blasted his horn and shook his fist at me. I had right of way, as you give way to traffic from your right at a roundabout and he was to my left. Shouting "My right of way, ****€r!" had no effect on him but did make me feel a bit better
I'm only happy when it rains....

Morrison's access roads are private not public highways and there is no legal obligation to conform to the road signs, roundabout, pedestrian crossings. Most people do but many drive on the wrong side of the mini roundabout when using the Esplanade access road.
