Measles Epidemic in Europe.
A Horrible distressing disease.

-------------"in England, 828 cases have been confirmed up to 13 August, more than three times higher than the 2017 total.
After the WHO warning, Public Health England says anyone who hasn’t completed both doses of their measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccination should contact their GP to ensure they’re protected.

Most cases in England are being seen in teenagers and young adults, the group born at the turn of the millennium when anti-vaccination fears exploded into the mainstream after now-retracted paper from disgraced physician Andrew Wakefield claimed it causes autism."

I believe that there has been a large increase in cases of Scarlet Fever also this past year. Bit tough on immigrants who would not have been immunised and have not built up immunity against these diseases. However, in fairness to A. Wakefield - some were not allowed full immunisation after suffering serious setbacks when first inoculated.

True though Scarlet Fever is treatable with antibiotics which also usually prevent any complications of the disease.
Catching up on the MMR vaccine
Adults and children who are not immune because they missed 1 or all MMR doses when they were younger can have the MMR vaccine on the NHS at any age. This may include:
•teenagers
•adults
•people travelling
•women preparing for pregnancy
•people exposed to measles during a measles outbreak
