Much Govt disarray today, as this weeks Brexit vote is cancelled/kicked down the road by PM.....Obvious we're getting nowhere with this - it's clearly time to put it to the people.

1) If a Peoples vote favoured the deal that's been hammered out, the UK leaves on those terms.

2) If the vote favoured remain, then we stay in and it's business as usual.


Either way, at least we'll know what we're voting for this time around.

Right now I think the majority of people want a decision, there is no deal on Earth likely to satisfy everyone, but the continuing farce is damaging all round, not sure how you come to the conclusion that many Remainers have switched to Leavers, I for one wouldn't place bets on either outcome, but with a clearer understanding of the consequences a fairer vote may be possible.

As far as the treatment of the UK by the EU is concerned, do you seriously think that we could possibly gain the advantages of membership without cost or the disadvantages?

Sure I for one would certainly prefer a purely trading relationship, without amalgamation into a European state, but I also know that isn't going to happen.

Incidentally it is worth considering that leaving the EU is a one way street, there will be no way back afterwards, or at least not on the terms we currently have.

Valid point. Should we want back in somewhere down the line, it's doubtful we'd ever get as favourable a membership deal as we currently have.

Whereas, remaining keeps all options open for the future. That includes to leave whenever we want, should circumstances dictate.

The whole thing has been a mess from beginning to end.

Vote with the deal on the table. That's what should have happened from the start.

Rest assured what ever deal we get wit the E.U. it will not be as good as the one we already have within the E.U. It would make no logic what so ever for them to give us a good deal. Anyone that thinks any different or even thought in the past that that was the case has little to no common sense.

Drop down to the WTA and put up a boarder with the republic of Ireland. Then you start to negotiate terms with the E.U. Quite honestly any other leave option is retarded.
Personally I wish we had vote stay and we hadn't wasted the time and money on this farce for the last two years.

You ain't seen nothing yet, if we officially leave next March. The Uk will then enter a 'transition period' of at least 2 years duration, whilst attempts are made to agree our permanent relationship. That's before you even get to discussions with 70-odd foreign states to try and cut trade deals.

Could well be several years before the dust actually settles - by which time opinions could have changed and we may want back in!

I think we can all agree that remainer May is making a hash of things, and acting in bad faith, but that is an argument for the elected Tory government to ditch her and put a genuine leaver in her place - not for ******** on the British people's clear mandate for exiting the EU. Bring on the WTO No Deal.

Leaving is too massive a move to make, based only on a single rather shakey vote. Not least because so many were taken in by the amazing claims made by the leave campaign....Claims, most of which have since turned out to be nothing but a load of hogwash.

I think it is more likely that Leavers don't want a better informed public any sort of democracy, be honest, the propaganda and lies from the leave campaign was just so much bull, Cameron and Osborne were weak in not showing Johnson et al for the lying scheming two faced scumbags they really are.

The whole thing has been divisive and a distraction from the start, now I think we all need a proper decision, then get on with it whichever way it goes.
