Manic Motorists
Noticing an increase in impatience on the roads recently. People getting into a tizzy, flying about trying to get stuff done before Xmas. More traffic on roads than usual, leading to longer queues and frustration.
Bad tempers and a lack of courtesy evident, chance-taking at junctions, ill-timed overtaking from speed merchants stuck behind dawdlers, etc. Not to mention the part festive booze will inevitably be playing......Best advice to avoid an Xmas smash: chill and drive defensively.

Is there anything to back that up? Or is it just more of those observations only you seem to have?

I've noticed a lot of cars around recently with one or more bulbs out.

Well, how about an increase in avoidable collisions recently?

I no longer drive, and I am thankful for that, as driving today looks to be a nightmare, too many vehicles and very little consideration for other road users.
Please be aware that due to visual impairment I will occasionally post typos in error.

manic motorists
A lot of them can't be bothered to wait at crossings with the pink cycle areas and will often be seen rolling forward regardless of whether people are using the crossings or not. One took off through the lights at the crown the other morning in Birkdale at about 7.10am just after I had come out. If you think you're going to be late, just get up an hour earlier and chill out behind the wheel. Some of them go along like determined mice

Cast your net more widely and you'll find plenty of examples - not every smash is posted on this sites News section by any means......Take yesterdays multi-car smash on A565 at Ince Blundell. Innocent pensioners injured, idiot motorist arrested at scene.

Yes, I have noticed that! There are also a number of drivers ignoring the personal phone use while on the roads. One trip out recently on the Preston by pass, there was a van driver in the wrong lane on a roundabout while on a phone - and a four by four whose driver swerved out on the lane while on a phone. As if there isn't enough o watch out for as it is!

I've certainly noticed an increase in the number of people who have no idea how to use a roundabout, particularly the new one at the Crosby end of Brooms Cross Road. My brother-in-law was taking the Southport exit so positioned himself in the right hand lane with his right indicator on, moved out into the right lane around the roundabout and got hit in the side by a van which was in the middle lane and simply straightlined the roundabout. I've seen so many near misses like this, people just don't know how to drive! The same idiots, no doubt, that drive up the Formby by-pass in the overtaking lane at 45 miles an hour because they're turning into Tesco in a mile's time or pull out from Formby at the BP roundabout on the by-pass despite the fact I'm already on it and clearly proceeding towards Southport, forcing me to hit the brakes.
I really do despair at the standard of driving.
I'm only happy when it rains....

Don't ask the fool to explain anything he doesn't do viewpoints except his OWN.
He openly admits to driving under the speed limit and it takes him all day to ride about 25 miles on his bike so DAWDLING is his forte.
