    Lesson learnt.

The boiler in my house needed a power flush on recommendation I hired a guy to do the work , he quoted me £400. This I thought was reasonable as although I have the system covered by a British gas maintained contract power flushing isn't included and BG charge £685.
They guy arrived three weeks ago and after looking at the system suggested he would clean the rads, this he did . After a couple of days the boiler began to make an almighty noise when firing up , I rang the guy but he was away on holiday so I rang BG , and engineer attended and told me the system didn't flushing , after further investigation BG insisted the flushing be done At a cost of £685.
On weds they arrived and were hers from 10am until 5pm . The system is now much more efficient, no noise.
Oh how I wish I'd have got BG in ,in the first place , the moral is don't always accept the cheapest quote .

Leave it a few weeks and then leave negative feedback on other sites where he advertises, ie, sites like Yell.com.

Tw, the work I had done was ...
The whole system including boiler , power flushed,
    The system was balanced.
I have peace of mind that as long as I keep my maint contract with BG the work is gauranteed.
With respect I don't think anyone local could give me that .
Plus I got a local guy in and he charged £400. No gaurantee no assurances and still he could sort it that's why I got BG in .

There are a lot of websites out there where he can list his company that will cost him nothing. Won't hurt having a look. Just think that if someone reads a negative comment they might look elsewhere so costing him money.

"there are a lot of con men out there" , true , done the flushing on my boiler a few times , up in loft , add cleaner to header tank , let it do its job and then flush the system one rad at a time , add protector and anti kettle , and for some strange reason my boiler has lasted some 30 years so far , only other change was to move a pipe to stop the system sucking in air , which according to the "experts" I needed a new system to cure !!

If you've got his phone number put that into google and that should show his business name.
