Labour plans to force company share's giveaway.

Labour plan taking 10% from a company away from its current owners to stick in a fund for the workers and the government's benefit.

For a start, the workers will not be able to buy and sell the shares - so they won't really "own" them in a traditional sense. They will be eligible to receive dividends on the shares up to a value of £500 per worker per year. The government gets the rest.

Whether it's workable or not will be down to as usual the small print, but considering that the majority of shareholders have little or no concern for the company whose shares they hold, just as long as they receive a return, either in dividend or in sale price of shares.

We know very well that there are shareholders out there who will quite happily see a company go to the wall, just as long as they profit, in fact this has been engineered by speculative financiers in the past, what greater incentive to a workforce is there than having a stake in their company.

There are a number of companies who already do this, with success as they get much better feed back from those actually doing the work and able to respond in a more practical manner.

The Chuckle Brothers, (Corbyn and McDonnell) really are the most ridiculous double act of all time. Promises and bribes which we all know will ultimately turn into “just ideas” in the cold light of day. Is McDonnell really so stupid to think that business would actually sit back and allow him to steal 10% of their companies to give to the staff.

    Here's the thing.
Investor's take the risks work the hours and pay the consequence
when things do not work out.

A company that voluntarily gives shares to workers is to be applauded.
Government enforced taxing success is a bad idea for British business
    and foreign investor's.

    Absolutely!

Will the workers be happy to have their dividends taxed?

Not a great way to promote Labour as 'business friendly'.

There have to be incentives for the self-employed to nurture and grow a business, not wholesale massive tax increases, for a start. There has to be support to motivate employment. There have to be incentives for a small business to become a big business. Perhaps when a company has been successful enough to be floated, it is a feasible option.

As SF said, it's down to the small print. If this was introduced, it depends on the size of the business. On the length of time an employee has worked for the company, etc. When you consider the size of some companies, say Tesco, Amazon, Boots, who manage to avoid paying tax at all costs, it might be a good idea for those employees to have a small stake in the company.

If we're talking about a small or medium sized business under sole ownership, then it would be a bad idea. Even with a good accountant, they'll already be paying higher rates of tax under a Labour government. Again, there have to be incentives for a company to grow and succeed. Not simply take a chunk of it away.

It's another of those sweeping statements that seem to pour forth from Conference, regardless of which party. At the moment, Labour should be riding high given the political disarray of the government and the governing party. However, even as a died in the wool member of Labour, I don't see any party as fit for office at the moment.

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right.

Dreamland? Nightmareland more like. Those two give me more sleepless nights than Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kruger & the Candyman put together!

Strangely enough my nightmares feature something resembling a lumbering blond haired yeti, accompanied by a sinister figure brandishing knives and an 18th century knight frantically waving a flag and exhorting the masses to press on over the cliff, until enough have fallen to allow him to ride over the ramp into a glorious sunset.

Currently our political landscape is very confused, trying to suss out the biggest liars is the main problem, therefore if in doubt my fallback position is to never ever trust a Tory under any circumstances.

But you’d trust Corbyn and his Marxist sidekick McDonnell. People ought to be made to pass a test of competence before being allowed a ballot paper.

They're all not to be trusted - see below an all party MP training course curriculum -

    Monday - Basic question avoidance
Tuesday - Intermediate answering a different question to the one posed
Wednesday - Putting down and patronising the electorate skills
    Thursday - Advanced dissembling
Friday - Advanced screwing as much out of the system as possible etiquette

Saturday and Sunday evening - (optional) - introduction to knobbing your aide/PA

So your concept of competence is to maintain the status quo? that the.wealthy will rule, no matter how that wealth is obtained, that the majority should know their place, dance to the tune of their masters and be grateful for whatever pittance they receive.

Competence means having the ability to look at both sides and making up your own mind, that is and must be available to all,

Having just sat and listened to the utter crap that Corbyn has just been spouting, I cannot for the life of me think why anyone would want to support him. I cannot think of any other MP, ever, who was so false and so far up his own jacksy. You might think the Tories are bad, but I’m sure we’d all be a lot worse off if Corbyn and McDonnell, God forbid, we’re ever to get their grubby mitts on the Country’s finances.

It's all very well denigrating Corbyn, but the probable alternative of Johnson, Gove, Mog etc; is not one to even think about, that is like a horror film script.

I find it very unlikely that May will survive for long, I shudder at the thought of any of the mentioned Tories running this country, personally wouldn't trust any of them to run a bath.
