    I have a book that southport visiter put out in 1909 pictures of old southport it has this pic in it in black and white

    Yes I too have seen that pic previously.

    I know that my Mother and her siblings often went skating on the Marine Lake.

    Was the skating on Peters Slack behind the 'Woodlands' large garden area on the map or behind the 'Woodlands' former school building?

This was a large pool of water, situated in the sand-hills behind sea view lodge, in manchester road (now known as the woodlands) The site is now covered with albert road property. a mr peters then lived in what is now The wodlands, The slack was known to the town in winter as a popular place for skating, That portion of lord street east of manchester road (now Albert road) was then known as peters slack
