Hypocrisy
Following the myriad of articles, reports and debates on the integrity, intentions and conduct of men in the media industry lately - I was left astounded this week by what I saw on television.
The first was a Jaguar SUV advert where a woman distracts her aged passenger so she can overtly leer at a man crossing the road in front of her.
The second was another advert where a woman in PVC clothing pulls a man dressed in a PVC dog outfit from a car and drags him on a lead around a field.
Am I alone in being shocked that this is allowed and am I alone in thinking if the roles were reversed a justified outcry would ensue?

You are absolutely right. There would have been protests all over the UK if this had been focussed on the opposite sex. All over the media there is great promotion of women in the workplace, extolling their almost genius virtues with no mention of male counterparts. Complete lunacy!

I find it amusing that men in general (not individually) bellyache about media bias against them. After generations of bias, prejudice and downright mysoginy we, as a society, have still not managed to bring equality to women either in the worklace or at home, to say nothing of worldwide. It's only been a few decades since the issue has been addressed in any meaningful way, and only a few months since Harvey Weistein etc. C'mon fellas, stop whining and get on board! If you'd had to put up with the crap that women have things might have changed sooner. Now you are getting a taste of it what are you going to do to help?

I'm confused - are you suggesting it is a good thing that we get a taste of things that women have suffered - does it serve us right?
Why should you find it amusing? If it's wrong it's wrong for everyone.
Your comments are verging on the 'well it's only banter' line given by men for years to excuse the in-excusable.
Are we to stop complaining because we should be all 'blokey' and not so sensitive - can you not see how innappropriate your comments are in this context?
By challenging this sort of thing we are on board - you appear at best to only have a foot on the gang plank!

Did you even read my post?
How you can extrapolate 'well, it's only banter' from what I wrote is beyond me. My comments were not inappropriate at all. They challenged the view that poor men are being undermined when that is the way women have been treated for generations. And yes, it is amusing in a wry sort of way that they (you) can't see the irony of it.
No idea what gangplanks have anything to do with this.

If it were only banter then it would be ignored. Unfortunately, the situation is far more serious than that. Women are being given roles in employment that they are totally unsuited for, simply to satisfy the liberalist PC groups. This is very poor for industry and the economy as a whole.
Take for instance, a fully qualified male mechanic who has learned his trade through University and by getting his hands dirty working on machines, applied for work at a well known automobile plant. He was turned down in favour of a female, who had merely studied theoretical physics. The company published the fact that they had taken on a brilliant female mechanic, whose prior training now took on the form of a degree in mechanics!
Who is going to be more beneficial to the company? This is happening in similar ways, with many companies, on a much greater scale. Industry is going to suffer and will not receive the benefit of those who understand what they are doing.

What a patronising thing to write - of course I read your post - that is why I responded in the way I did.
You make a good point on irony but my question referred to hypocrisy.
If I dismissed a similar question / complaint by a woman as whining I would rightly be robustly taken to task - you however seem to think it appropriate.
Throughout your post the implication, both overt and implicit is, suck it up chaps and get over it.
Just because I don't agree with the way you've approached it don't assume I haven't got it.
I object to men being objectified in this way - the fact that women have suffered this for so long is, in this context, irrelevant.
It would be like me saying 'my Mum used to beat me' with you replying 'yeah, my Mum used to beat me, stop whining about it.'
