Nuns don't cover the face which I think is the basis of most of the animosity.

The only time in British history where women were expected to cover their faces was in medieval period, where a woman in mourning had to cover her face with a veil. Even then - the women wore long fitted elegant clothing. Muslim women wearing the niqab must be in mourning for their lack of rights.

Christian women are not compelled to become nuns. They have the freedom to choose to enter one of the few traditional orders or to live an entirely secular life and wear civvies and style their hair how they wish. That's a choice that our sisters in Islamic lands (and to our shame, increasingly, in communities here) are not free to make. Imprisonment, beatings, family ostracisation, stonings.... tend to make one compliant.

Absolutely! When has one ever heard of a male Muslim being beaten and stoned. Men are more guilty than the women in being unfaithful, or looking at other females - they are not punished for not providing for their wives!
Muslim males may consider themselves to be superior to women but by their very actions towards females they prove they are very insecure and weak.

It is about male 'superior' feelings towards women?

A Muslim woman says the outfit is to cover modesty in public.

The hair and face is covered in public in modesty in front of other men.

A with all children in radical religions the control begins at birth.
Islam happens to give more control in the hands of men than women.

The men and women suffer more in a Western country as the inequality
in 'control' is laid bare. Inevitably this forces more controlling behaviour.

I still cannot understand objections to the Burqa it is only a garment
and it distracts from an underlying problem common to all religions
and therefore not a discriminatory point.

Adult consenting procreation and attraction to a sexual partner are human and natural.
Denying or thwarting or repressing such instincts are the problem.

    Carmelite nuns do, on occasions.
