Just any busy road? What about the coast road from Ainsdale to Birkdale riding on the road far enough out that its difficult for cars to get past, while there is a perfectly fine cycle path 20 feet to your right?

Can't see anything wrong with that so long as they abide by the Highway Code. (just like all drivers do hey?)

Three steps is a waste of steps, you've just shown how to be a pr#ck in a single step.

I've seen groups of cyclists riding down Coastal Road and the Formby Bypass blocking up entire lanes (like in the image). If there's a careful driver behind them, and they're unwilling to overtake the 20 meters of Lyrca in front of them, the end result is long queue of very frustrated motorists.
If you want to commute to work on your bicycle, then good for you. If you're doing it for recreational purposes, you should consider mountain biking - it's more fun and better for your lungs (and street credentials).

Hahahahahaha, hit a sore point have I? Hundreds of thousands of pounds goes into cycle lanes and most cyclists can't be arsed using them.

Perhaps you should have mentioned cycle lanes in your opening post if that's the issue. I take it you concede that if there's no cycle lane then the road is the correct place for a cyclist to be?
I was up and down the coast road cycle lane myself yesterday. Didn't see one bike on the road. I don't suppose your "most cyclists" assertion has any facts to back it up?
