Healthy food, not really
The latest event in food marketing now, is that there are a number of people diagnosed as suffering from Gluten or Lactose allergies etc.,. There are also a number of foods which are claimed to be a healthier option - fat free, sugar free etc.,
So those affected trot off to the supermarket and look for Gluten free or lactose free products. While others look for sugar free, fat free etc., products.
Gluten is a chewy, gelatin formed when wheat is mixed with water. In France it is rare to find cases of Gluten allergies because French wheat has a lower content of protein and it is the protein that contains Gluten. Lower percentages of protein, mean lower concentrations of Gluten. french flour has 9% protein, while UK flour has almost double this amount. Gluten free merely means that fat is introduced into the recipe as an alternative tobind the mixture, so instead of gluten, one is eating more fatty foods.
Lactose has always been present in milk - it has only recently become a problem in human diets. Lactose concerns the amount of fat in the milk. To increase the milk yield of cows, they are fed a number of chemicals in their feed which increases the amount of fat in the milk. A humans digestive system contains a natural enzyme that breaks down a certain type of fats and Lactose free allows additional enzymes to be introduced to break down the additional fats.
Sugar free -simply means that an alternative chemical compound is used as an alternative (i.e. sweeteners) which contain far more chemicals than any sugar and can actually be harmful if digested in large amounts. Similarly, fat free contains more chemicals.
If you are ever unsure - go back to eating natural products, French flour is available on the internet and you can make your own products for a healthier option.
All the facts given above are widely published on the internet, so if you want sources quoted, just press a few buttons on your mouse.

I'm sure one of the supermarkets, might be Sainsburys, say that their French Sticks are made with French flour. I might give it a try instead of bread made with British flour and see if the bloating I often suffer from recedes.
I'm only happy when it rains....

If they use French flour, and the bread is made correctly, it should be very light when you pick it up. If not, it will feel heavy and will not do your stomach any good. Most bread now contains many chemicals to prolong shelf life - real French Bread goes stale within a day.
Another cause of bloating is milk. Have you tried natural milk? Many farms are now licensed to provide natural milk which contains vitamins and antibiotics that mass produced processed milk destroys.
Stay off processed foods altogether if you can or only eat small amounts of it. The most healthy people in the UK were those who were around just after WW2, they only ate natural foods as that is all that was available.

Cook from fresh ingredients every day, avoid processed foods and there shouldn't be much of a problem.
Anyone who says they haven't the time or can't afford to cook from fresh ingredients is either lazy or needs to re-evaluate their priorities.
