Groupon is it a good deal or a con
I noticed the attached and couldn't help but think that anyone buying this deal on the strength of the photograph is going to be very disappointed not only with the fact that their caravan may not be half as plush as the one in the photograph but also because there is no lake or mountain view in Banks! I'd go so far as to say that the Trading Standards Department should take a look at this 'deal' as it feels to me more like a con than a good deal.

I would imagine that the photo was supplied by The Riverside or just a stock caravan photo. Like most travel deals surely one would check out the venue before booking. I have used Groupon several times & found them to be easy to use & great value.

Agree with you...looks very suspicious indeed..misleading to say the least.

Not so easy if you don't live in the area. How are you going to ascertain whether that view is achievable or not?
Some years back I saw some really bad reviews on Groupon from people who had booked afternoon tea at Botanic Gardens cafe. It sounded idyllic but in reality they likened it to sitting in a canteen with endless tat suspended from the ceiling - which sadly, was the reality of the cafe at that time. The new venture next door is very impressive however and doing very well if last Sunday was anything to go by. Good luck to them.

I'd look it up on the internet, just the same as I would with any place I was thinking of booking. I've used Groupon for accommodation with great success. Also good eating out deals.

Obviously a photoshopped picture,as not even Parbold Hill or Winter Hill is that big, from the view you may get of them from Banks ?

Good deal.
Always check tripadvisor or similar before booking hotels or restaurant.
There are some negatives that bother and others that would not.
One can always enjoy a hyped up trip with good humour knowing
the price paid was not the full tab.

The caravan depicted DOES look like the ones that are available for holidays.
The view doesn't...

Many prices advertised as a discount are available elsewhere, ' Was' prices are often fantasy prices just like the supermarkets.

I agree, completely misleading. They are advertising a holiday and the external view should be the actual view of the holiday park. Makes you also question if that is the type of caravan you would stay in, if they are showing scenery from elsewhere.

Sure you are right.
Groupon works partly due to the format.
Subscriber's get personal email offers of meals/hotels/theatre etc that one has shown an interest in before.
We are much more likely to buy on receiving an offer than search an offer during very busy working weeks particularly for Southport or
London.
