The star rating thing seems a good idea but not too sure that it works well in practice. Apparently getting a zero rating is usually down to not supplying paper work (something I don't give two hoots about) whereas a 1 star needs serious improvement and the inspector has no confidence that the current management can accomplish it. Thing is, I've been eating for years in a veggie cafe in Liverpool that always gets 1 star. From where you sit you can see directly into the clean kitchen and there doesn't seem to be anything at all to worry about. I wonder how much these ratings rely on box-tickery about things ordinary punters really aren't worried about?
