    General election song

"Where Have All The Flowers Gone" updated for the election.

Where have all the police gone
    Long time passing
    Where have the police gone
    Long time ago
Where have all the police gone
    TORIES cut them everyone
    When will we ever learn
    When will we ever learn

Where have all the firemen gone
    Long time passing
Where have all the firemen gone
    Long time ago
Where have all the firemen gone
    TORIES cut them everyone
    When will we ever learn
    When will we ever learn.

NO Hamble all down to Tory cuts, these pseudo economy measures which appear to cost more than they ever save, if genuine savings were being made, how come we owe more than we did before incompetent Tories got their hands on the purse strings?

If the National Debt worries you I would not vote for Labour.

Come on it's the bloody useless Tories who've blown the whole thing out the water, I see that "balancing the books" has been moved further into the future, after the total failures of the last two "dead lines", yet we must still endure more cuts, more austerity, less services and pay more.

If these so called economies were making a significant difference it would be a worthwhile exercise, however only the Tories can cut ALL public services and yet still manage to spend (or other wise dispose) of even more taxpayers money, of course I fully understand that big corporations must be given tax breaks, tax reductions, a free hand with their accounting, otherwise they may not be able to pay the senior execs their £multimillion salaries and bonus

Do you mean tax payers money diverted to other costs?

    Quote
"Since 2010, £1.2billion has been spent on bed and board for refugees while their claims are processed.

That could have paid for 58,000 extra nurses, 52,000 teachers or 47,500 police officers.

But the true scale of the public liability for the overseas influx is likely to be significantly higher because it does not include health care, school or legal aid costs.

The Home Office data, obtained via a Freedom of Information request, shows the asylum bill for 2013/14 – the most recent available – was £265million or £726,027 a day."

    Or translation services?

'Latest estimates suggest that £140m a year is spent on translation by the UK public sector as a whole.

Communities and Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles said: "If people can't speak English, particularly migrants, they are at a disadvantage because they won't be able to integrate into British society, get a job and get off benefits."

Or the increased population since New Labour

    Quote
"The number of people in the UK has risen by five million over the past 12 years, growing faster than anywhere else in Europe.

Last year, the population soared by more than 400,000 to pass 64million for the first time, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Estimates released yesterday show that from 2001 to 2013, the population went up by five million. The previous five million increase took three times as long, over 37 years between 1964 and 2001."

There is much wrong with the immigration situation, which the Tories have certainly not controlled either, as your so fond of throwing stats around try this, due to benefit cuts, unemployment, low pay etc in the LAST 5years £3.4BILLION has been spent on temporary accomodation for British homeless, mark that, IN THE LAST 5 YEARS, all during this Tory regime, makes the immigrant situation look small doesn't it?

Would Corbyn continue to pay that amount given he has no plans to end open migration from Continental Europe?

Thank you for pointing out another area of need where our tax money is being spent.
I would rather the money be spent on the have nothing at alls.

Is it not true too that, in the UK (like Oz) a very large % of homeless are there because of relationship breakdown or, drug and alcohol abuse? Hardly the fault of the state but, they are picking up the tab.

While this is true, but emergency/temporary accomodation is only automatic where children are involved, single adult homeless are not automatically provided for and are very often out on the streets.

Until the Brexit negotiations are complete WE have no idea of the final outcome of residency/immigration to and from EU countries, please tell where has Corbyn indicated that he would continue the free flow of immigration ad lib?, the comments I have seen refer to existing immigrants or reciprocal agreements .

    As sf says
Plus it is too easy to fall homeless in The UK.
Debt and domestic Violence being top of the list.

There is a shortage of accommodation in some areas and a slow process of allocation.

Added to this the 'grading' of need discriminating against people deemed to be 'voluntary homeless'.

Accommodation allocated is often expensive and temporary pending
more permanent solution suited to need.

Most of all the grading of 'need' is allocated by criteria.
Top of the list rightly is victims of domestic violence and adults with children.

Every part of the process is expensive to the tax payer from the Government services that are involved to the 'chain' of private rented placements often hotels or boarding houses until victims housed permanently.

Corbyn supported the free flow of European migrants until the Labour Manifesto was published stating 'free movement' had to end.

The manifesto then stated that Labour wished to remain in 'the single market'.

Either Corbyn is being a snake on free movement of workers (which we know was highly abused)or he does not get that 'free movement and the single market' are an item in EU Law.

I cannot make up my mind whether this should be filed under 'Loony Left' or 'Jobs for the boys'.

things will only get better was a vote winner but heres a song for todays labour leader that fits him

I'm the urban spaceman, baby; I've got speed
    I've got everything I need
I'm the urban spaceman, baby; I can fly
    I'm a supersonic guy

    I don't need pleasure
    I don't feel pain
If you were to knock me down I'd just get up again
I'm the urban spaceman, baby; I'm makin' out
    I'm all about

I wake up every morning with a smile upon my face
My natural exuberance spills out all over the place

I'm the urban spaceman, I'm intelligent and clean
    Know what I mean?
I'm the urban spaceman, as a lover second to none
    It's a lot of fun

I never let my friends down
    I've never made a boob
I'm a glossy magazine, an advert in the tube

I'm the urban spaceman, baby; here comes the twist--
    I don't exist
