Fylde Road Chippy
Called in to the chippy last night, couldn’t believe that they charge £1.95 for a regular portion of chips, and £2.70 for a ‘large’ portion, which in reality is only the same as regular portions at other chippy’s in the town, and, they weren’t all that good, full of ‘eyes’, wasted more than we ate.

Welcome to 2018 where chips cost more than a farthing.
Never had issues with quality when I've been, You must have been extremely unlucky or fussy. Defiantly one of the best chippies in the area.

Not a lot of competition and expensive, much prefer the Swan in town.

I've been twice and have to say not that impressed on either occasion, my local chippy Wok's Cooking is cheaper and far better.

Heard at work that 'Toms' near the Mount is good but I've never tried it.

Had a takeaway from the Birkdale branch, unfortunately the food was only slightly warm, disappointing as normally fine.

Mr.Chips is good, only problem, you can go in there for a bag of chips and there might be ten people in front of you waiting for fish, but they won’t serve you before them.

well just wish I could still eat a chippy tea ,that said the spuds given our unusually hot summer ,have taken a lack of water growth season ,so most chippys will be having a quality chip issue at the moment anyway.pappas frittas churchtown when under the three ladies was the best ever in southport.!

You don't get around much then, do you? Top is The Swan, closely followed by Harpers, Jackson's and The Sandgrounder. These are far superior to the Fylde Road chip shop, which used to be good until it changed hands a couple of years ago - now it is near the bottom of the list. It submitted its OWN claim to being the best in the area based on the previous management's success and its bad reviews are flooded with false claims of excellence on Trip Adviser. There is no competition in Fylde Road, whereas those in town do have plenty of competition and have to produce top class food to keep going.

Touring round last year - on one Sunday night, starving hungry we came across a chip shop in Conwy. It was lovely and clean and we had to join a long queue. Eventually, there was one person ahead of us and he was served fish and chips which was a massive portion - we thought he must have asked for large. We also ordered Fish and Chips, we were each given a large piece of cod and absolutely true - a domestic shovel of chips each!and it was cheaper than any of the chip shops in Southport.

If they need to make cut-backs they could get rid of the battered onion rings that they insist on putting on the fish and chips when you eat in!
