I have always found Fylde Rd excellent, but we don't order chips anymore, just Haddock & Peas, because they give you far too many chips.
As do most chip shops, most chippies don't seem to understand the concept of a small portion. Probably because they are bombarded with complaints by the public if they don't get enough chips to feed an army. No wonder we are becoming a nation of fatties.

British Chippy in Ainsdale doesn't have that problem, their small chips is minute.

It submitted its OWN claim to being the best in the area based on the previous management's success and its bad reviews are flooded with false claims of excellence on Trip Adviser. There is no competition in Fylde Road, whereas those in town do have plenty of competition and have to produce top class food to keep going.
Maybe not, Not something I'm embraced about not getting around all the chippies in town. Still think it's an excellent chippy, and their homemade chicken curry is fantastic.

True! I can't get my head around this, especially when you think that 'in the olden days' there would be several fish in the heater already cooked. I know that everyone will say, ah but it's great to be freshly cooked to order but I can't see anything wrong (especially at busy times) in having a few ready to go.

Certainly not the case now, I bought a ‘large portion’ the other night for two of us to share, by the time we’d taken out the inedible ones, there was hardly enough left to feed a small child.

Never had issues with quality when I've been, You must have been extremely unlucky or fussy. Defiantly one of the best chippies in the area.
Another typically stupid comment from you.

Most chippies I go to give you far more chips than 1 person could eat, with fish (or whatever you've chosen), peas 1 portion can easily feed 2 if not 3.
I have seen chip shops (not in Southport) offer child/OAP portions which to me makes sense.

You must have called in at closing time when there were a load of chips left over - because you seem to be in the minority.

Not sure if your reply was to my post?
If I have a baked potato to accompany my tea I have one potato which is easily enough. Not being a potato aficionado I use the same potato's as chips, when chipped the same size potato is plenty for me, and probably a 1/3rd of a chip shop portion of chips.
I am talking of the chips being the accompaniment to whatever else I'm eating.
