A) You stick to your interpretation as you will, but it was clear that existing funds were to be allocated to this cycle path,

B) When will you learn that most people have little or no wish to see the interests of a minority take precedence over the more immediate concerns of local residents?

A) Obviously funds are required for any scheme, whatever it may be. However, all the cycle-paths I have had involvement with, have been funded from Seftons transport budget and are frequently match-funded via external grants.

If this path scheme has been paid for by raiding that Wards funds I'd be very surprised indeed. I would doubt the path in question is located in that Ward, if not, someone must have done some very hard lobbying indeed to get at someone elses money!

B) Let's not forget that path will be used by kids of residents local to that school. It's also vital to cultivate cycling as an everyday mode of transport amongst the young, with hope they will continue using bikes for local journeys when older. Not only for health reasons i.e. to combat obesity, but also to spare planet from yet more traffic congestion/pollution.

Big thumbs up to FW and the others for cleaning up the litter. It's just a shame people can't be bothered to take their rubbish home with them.
