Florida School Shoooting - Trumps Response to survivors and families
After the latest massacre Trump met yesterday with survivors and victims families. His main proposal is to provide teachers with guns so they could fire back at any similar 'sad sicko' who starts shooting at students next time around.
Is he for real??

Don't want guns in schools, just add some more that will fix the problem

Trump would be lynched if he tried to part Americans from their guns.
Orwell said "If there is hope, it lies in the proles." Whilst champagne socialists see diversity idealised at university, the common folk experience it first hand in their neighbour hoods.

Bit too little, a bit too late I would say...

No point in fighting with the gun lobby when Hollywood and co are churning out their epic killing machine role models.

There's no business like show business! For every gun outrage in the USA the sale of guns increases. Smith and Wesson, Sturm Ruger., etc as well as those marketing the guns - have seen their profits increase substantially in the past five years. Arms sales are BIG, even larger than sales of oil - the industry provides hundreds of jobs. Note that without war there would be no need for arms. According to the Independent, the UK is the World's second largest arms dealer. So of course, the teacher's will be armed, more guns to be sold!

I'm amazed that he wasn't lynched when he made that stupid statement in front of recently bereaved parents! Absolutely disgusting!
It would be interesting to hear the opinions of the teachers who were involved in the latest incident - how would they have felt about entering into a gun battle over the students' heads?

Interestingly . . . . .
One teacher at the Parkland school 'hid' some of her pupils in a cupboard whilst the shooting was ongoing, and none of the kids were harmed. When subsequently interviewed on this point she said that if she had been 'armed' and had shot at the assailant , When the SWAT team arrived they may have shot at her amidst the confusion . . . . . I tend to agree.

Sort of reminds you of the The Dunblane school massacre doesn't it, and that was bad?

Apparently, it's not a new idea.
When Violence
Strikes at School,
You CAN Be Prepared!

"The programme includes first aid, moving through crowds, and firearms training - that is, how to kill a school gunman.
So far, Faster has trained 1,300 school staff, mostly on three-day courses. "Teachers, administrators, superintendents, bus drivers, even the lunch lady,"
In the US, 10 states bans guns in schools outright. Another eight allow them only in locked cars. But in the other 32 states, it is possible for teachers to carry guns, if the school allows it...
Faster has trained staff from 225 districts in 12 states. Another 200 to 400 will be trained this year.
"Inside of every school, there are certain teachers who will willingly run towards the sound of gunfire,"
"The schools identify these people, and tell them: 'Whatever tool and training you're comfortable with, we're going to give it to you'."

It's now been revealed that the armed officer assigned to the school didn't go inside to find the gunman, but waited outside whilst the killings were going on. He has now resigned.
So, what good would an armed teacher do, if a trained police officer bottled it?
Update: Trump has now branded him a 'coward'. There were apparently three other officers outside as well, and none of them went in. So, it looks like they don't need to arm teachers - just get the police to do their job.

Remarkable how 250 million people have collectively and repeatedly avoided learning the lesson.
BTW there have been more than 80 gun attacks at schools SO FAR THIS YEAR. We are just hearing about the successful ones.
Their determination to keep their guns is based on a literal understanding of the Second Amendment. But those who wrote it did not do so based on today's world. I imagine they would be horrified to see it being used to defend this nonsense.

Absurd idea. Take it to the nth degree, arm the whole country with semi-automatic weapons, then eventually there would be no problem at all.
What if a shooter decides not to go into the school, but starts shooting when the kids are entering or leaving? Nowhere near any teachers?
There is a reason we don't have mass shootings in this country. It is perfectly legal to own a gun, say a shotgun, but it is difficult to get a licence. I would imagine even in the criminal community that a semi-automatic weapon would be extremely difficult to get hold of.
People bang on about the '2nd Amendment', but consider that it is an amendment: it has been changed. Sure, give people the right to bear arms on the excuse that the British might be sneaking over the Atlantic to reclaim the country, or because the government is turning on it's people. Actually, the latter is happening, but guns won't help. But make sure they have to jump through hoops to get those arms.
