Fat willys
Totally random question, just to settle a debate... On Coronation walk there used to be a shop called fat willys surf shop and they sold t-shirts with big iluminous writing on featuring the shops name,am i right? nobody in the pub who i spoke to remembers this and thought i had clearly had one to many. Does anybody else remember? if so any idea of the year the shop was trading?

No, I agreed with the one too many school of thought
Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, "Where have I gone wrong?" Then a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night."

I don't know when they stopped trading, but I remember the shop. They are still trading in other towns.

There's loads of Fat Willy's in Cornwall
That's where the 'fad' started - In Newquay. The original shop is a tiny little thing opposite the beach

Fat Willys Surf Shack was, I think next door to the Marine Club. Unsure of the exact date it closed but it must have been around 1990 ish as I remember buying my son T-shirts and sweatshirts from there
They had some good stuff

Mr Tilly took over the shop after Fat Willys closed, and we lived in the flat above for about 3 years. It was a nightmare living there as obviously on the other side of the walls of the flat was a pounding nightclub
The lack of sleep for 3 years could go a long way to explaining my lunacy today.

I remember it!
In fact, I think I still have a 'Fat Willys Southport' t-shirt somewhere! Maybe it would be worth something now?! LOL
