Going back to 50's to mid 60's there used to be a Waxworks there with a model of Popeye outside.

Had many a good night in the Marine Club. I guess you worked for Joe Ruane? What a lovely guy he was. I think he died a few years ago.

How on earth have you found a thread that was last commented on in May 2009?

I was trying to find anything about said shop and just accidentally came across this thread.
My friend turned up this afternoon and informs me I was right about it being down Scarisbrick Ave. It was never down Coronation Walk.

Fat Willy's was down Coronation Walk, it may have been in Scarisbrick Avenue (I don't remember it being there) but was 100% definitely in Coronation Walk. Hope you haven't put a bet on your theory you've lost it.

Nope, no money on this. But before that little outcrop that now adorns the back of the Scarisbrick Hotel was built, I remember scaffolding being there for a couple of years in the late 80''s / early 90's and the whole part that was the two shops, one was Fat Willy's and the other was a bookshop called Book Worm it was built upon and filled in. Just to prove I'm telling the truth, here is the bookmark I bought from said bookshop in 1984
