Esther McVey
I notice the "delightful" McVey has had to apologise for misleading parliament over Universal Credit, in other words she lied through her teeth to present her story rather than the reality, the woman is either incompetent or a deliberate liar, seeing that in this instance she was called out on her "report" I would hazard a guess she is a malicious liar.
Are there any leading Tories who can be trusted at all, every issue is presented in a warped and twisted way with no regard for the truth or the effects on people.

Here's McVey trying to give the appearance of issuing an apology, trying to give the appearance of being contrite. Doesn't appear to be trying very hard, especially given her media and presenting experience.

A vile woman who openly delights at the existence of food banks. I suspect that many of her colleagues also enjoy the suffering of the lower classes as it replicates, in their pathetic nostalgia-based dreams, the master/slave relationship of our imperial past.

I'm not going to have a pop at people on Universal Credit but, given your comments above about lying Tories - and in the interests of balance.
How do those lies sit when viewed against Labour lies that caused hundreds of our young Service people to be killed and maimed whilst simultaneously de-stabilising and entire region?

The woman is not up to the job that is for sure but then if competence with figures and peddling falso's is the measure there is another gracing the opposition.

To be very honest - there are a rare few politicians who are capable of doing the work of the office they hold. None had to have pre-requisites for the position, none had any training for it, none were tested for ability for the position and most likely were interviewed by others who held the same low ability and knowledge. It is now that such positions were brought up to modern times and for each candidate to have to prove their suitability as strictly as it is in the Private Sector. These people who hold such office would be unemployable in the private sector since the private sector cannot afford to employ useless people.

The only leader who would not have joined in that war would have been the late Charles Kennedy.
The British casualty numbers in that war are light in comparison to the deaths inflicted on British citizens by the cruel persecution of them by our own oppressive regime.
Sadly, in both cases, an immeasurable increase in mental health problems has resulted in many ruined lives.

She should be made to apologise to those on UC who have waited months with no money at all and have got into debt just to live. The emotional and financial strain she is putting in families, many of whom are disabled, is atrocious.
Never mind apologising to Parliament, apologise to the people and leave the post that she is so not equipped to handle.

She is dangerous and needs to be removed.

McVey probably does not have a clue what she is speaking about - she read the whole speech. If you compare her Parliament speeches with those of Rees-Mogg, who speaks straight out without any notes you can see who appears to be more convincing. Wasn't she supposed to be a presenter on the television? She must have been reading from tele prompts throughout!

It is still under debate at whether these where deliberate lies or the suspicions at the time, any involvement in the Middle East is fraught with problems, simply because our concept of freedom and democracy is not the same as the power brokers in that area.
Yesterday's friends become the enemy, simply removing one dictator does not and did not bring the desirable result, but please do not try to blame Labour for the conflicts in the Middle East, the area is and has been fractious for centuries, with almost constant conflict, sure I don't believe our involvement did any good, but to infer that our action created the strife is way off beam.

In post #2, there is a video showing Esther McVey not trying very hard.
It's difficult to say if John McDonnell, in the video below, is trying very hard or not at all.

Ah, the usual descent into whataboutery. Most threads that criticise the actions of the government end up with toddlers stamping their feet shouting 'but but but they did this'. Or drag up New Labour from 15 years ago. Or Gordon Brown caused a global financial crisis all on his own.
McVey is an odious stain on the Tory party, of which I have an extremely low opinion in the first place, so that might illustrate the disdain in which I hold her. She is not fit to hold office and the entire Universal Credit debacle should have been scrapped within months of its launch. I know friends who have been pushed to the very edge with this benefit. Working people who find themselves in poverty.
For example a friend, who works limited hours because of a disability, relies on UC for help with her rent and council tax. She earns the same amount every week. No variation. Last month UC decided to pay her a fraction of her weekly benefit for the entire month. There is little redress. No appeals system to speak of. Within days her Landlord sent a notice saying pay up or eviction proceeding will start. This is a 61 year old woman who has worked and paid into the system all her life. She was terrified of being evicted because UC simply does not work. Eventually, after borrowing to pay her rent, and spending most of her 4 weeks making phone calls, sending emails, trying to contact them through some sort of online diary, she got most of the money back. Not all she was entitled to, though. On the whim of some jobsworth who really isn't interested in doing anything to help.
Added to this, UC works on a weekly / 4 weekly basis. Council tax works on a calendar monthly basis. So she's constantly receiving demands for more council tax than she can possibly afford.
But the fact is, hers is a hiccup compared with some of the people who've suffered under UC. It is literally killing people. Driving them to suicide. Leaving diabetics with no money for electricity, so no working fridge to keep insulin safe.
And as for sanctions, this government has blood on it's hands. No two ways about it.

Really this is beyond the pale - you deride Desert Region for 'whataboutery' then devote almost all your post to the very same!

This thread isn't about Esther McVey and Universal Credit? How odd. I thought with the opening post being about Esther McVey and the opening sentence being "I notice the "delightful" McVey has had to apologise for misleading parliament over Universal Credit", then it might have been about Esther McVey and Universal Credit.
I didn't think that by keeping to the theme of Esther McVey and Universal Credit, I'd strayed into whataboutery. Unless you consider me describing the situation of someone on Universal Credit as whataboutery. But I can't see what the 'what about' is. I've pretty much tried so stay within the subject of Esther McVey and Universal Credit. Haven't gone off into whatabout the miners. Or whatabout the Poll Tax riots. Or whatabout New Labour 15 years ago. Whatabout Brexit. I've stayed on track about the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, and discussed the effect of a benefit on someone for whom Esther McVey's department is responsible.
Perhaps you could enlighten me as to what the thread was actually about, then. Obviously I've read the opening post wrongly. I assumed that since almost everyone on here was discussing Esther McVey and Universal credit, I'd post an opinion about Esther McVey and Universal Credit.
Was it the two sentences about council tax? Apologies for that huge leap into whataboutery. Diabetics dying because of Universal Credit? Because that's really about Esther McVey's department. Not so much whataboutery as the Actual Subject Being Discussed, really. You know, Esther McVey and Universal Credit.
Also, if my writing about Esther McVey and Universal Credit is 'beyond the pale' rather than this government forcing people into homelessness and suicide because of Universal Credit, I'd take a serious look at what you consider 'beyond the pale'.
