Would like to know who instructs the instructors, as some clearly have no idea about the rules.....Riding my bike I came across one 'L' merchant chatting away quite happily with his student, neatly parked completely blocking a cycle-lane. Needless to say, I went to the window (passenger side) and informed the instructor of his mistake, lol!
Highway Code Rule 140 clearly states: 'Do not park in a cycle-lane'.

You can park in a cycle lane if the white line isn't a solid one, so parking on Preston New Road or roads with the same cycle lane isn't a problem.

This is rule 140. It is universally ignored by taxi drivers 'rank feeding' and parking on the cycle lane alongside the station in London St.

As posted by Lorquinho, it's only allowed when parking on a cycle-lane is unavoidable...Yet 9 times out of 10, the houses with cars parked outside on the PNR cycle-lanes have room for those cars up their drives.
People who do it, obviously don't give a fig for riders safety. Then the same people turn round and complain about Churchtown lights being congested. Perhaps more residents of the area would leave the car at home and cycle, if they didn't have to keep pulling out into the line of fire to get past those unnecessary obstructions.

Like I said, it's perfectly legal to park on the cycle lane on PRN as the white line isn't a solid one.
How do riders manage to survive on other roads where there isn't a cycle lane?

Why do cyclists riding on the pavement down PNR not get Fined the next time I see one in the cycle lane will be the FIRST.
I have seen the grand total of ONE cyclist using the London St lane in HOW MANY years?

Unless things have changed the Cycle Lanes are unenforceable under Law. Sefton sent all the PAs out booking motorists parking on Cycle Lanes in Southport only to find out after 3 weeks that the Lines weren't covered under Law {although they made the PAs book Cars for another 2 - 3 weeks after finding out}. So unless that has changed, they are still unenforceable?
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants, they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
