Well, your accent might not be a hindrance in your experience but I've known a number of occasions when a scouse accent has caused problems in the job market.

There are a number of variations in the Scouse accent, depending on whether one is from Central Liverpool or The Wirral. The original accent, which was softer is far better than the affected whine that became popular when Cilla Black lost her original accent and created a false one.

I was born and bred in the Scotland Road area of the city . Never new Cilla who of course was also from the area . Great people and a great area then . 40s 50s and 60s.

Oh yes.
A regional accent particularly Scottish and Geordie are positively advantageous if one wishes to work in a call centre.

Yes, the Old Scotland Road accent was probably about the truest Liverpool accent, but among the young even that has changed. As far as job prospects go - I would have thought anyone who speaks well, regardless of accent, has a far better chance in an interview. It really does not come across well if one is speaking text talk.

Very few of us if any would know if our accent has held us back, no employer or prospective employer is going to say that your accent takes you out of the position he/she is wishing to fill.

As the former possessor of a comedy Bristol accent, the best thing I ever did was to drop most of it.

I think the word has been trendified to 'craic'.
