Cyclists sticking 2 fingers

Good to see over the last 4 months people being fined for
litter issues.
Now , it's time.!!!!
When was the last ticket issued for cycling on the pavement issued?
If I nudge a cyclist on Chapel St and he/she goes through shop
window do I get a trophy or am I in trouble.
Chapel St has I believe 6 signs at least , but are we afraid to implement our laws?

Yes, I'm inclined to agree with you on that one.
I hate pavement cyclists and especially those that razz about on Chapel St like Bradley Wiggins going at all sorts of speeds and ignoring the signs.
Also there is no cycling allowed inside the Station Concourse as that is also well signposted .

There are cameras on Chapel St, surely footage from these could be used to identify these people.

I was down Duke St a couple of weeks ago near the junction of Talbot St while I was walking home and some guy on a racing bike comes up the pavement towards me. I said to him , "get on the road " , he said "why?"

I told him that it's illegal to ride along the pavement in any way shape or form, especially when you're all kitted out like aforementioned Mr Wiggins in your lycra with a silly looking helmet on.

I made sure I watched him go on the road....I think I won that one.

I was nearly knocked down by a grown man cyclist on the pavement as I leant in his path to drop an empty drink in a bin.

Apart from the fact I had no way of anticipating a cyclist from behind he
was convinced I was at fault for moving in front of him.

I frequently use the pavement on our busy route to a cycle path always walk with the cycle.

People in Bury are very tolerant of school age children/teenagers riding on the pavement as our roads can be treacherous and generally they are respectful and careful to pedestrians.

I was down Chapel St on Saturday morning and saw another 3 cyclists, riding side by side just past where HMV is. Not taking a blind bit of notice of people wandering about doing their shopping, they headed off in the direction of Tulketh St.

The NO CYCLING signs need to be bigger and displayed on each end of Chapel St, the little piffly ones attached to some of the lamp posts aren't any good to anyone.

Yesterday on my way out, saw a car doing at least 50 down Shaftesbury Rd.....
I was like , "wait, what was that? " he was gone in the blink of an eye. Probably another one of those fools who doesn't think he'll encounter a red light at either end of Halsall Rd

When Sefton council installed the Bus,Taxi,Cycle lanes in Southport,the Private Hire companies were informed that ALL Private Hire vehicles would be allowed to use them,but in other Cities like Liverpool,Manchester etc,a Private hire vehicle is NOT allowed to use them,as the councils do NOT recognise a Private Hire vehicle being a Taxi,instead they are classed as being Minicabs...

This may be of interest though,but NOT sure about Sefton Council ruling,as there are no times on the signage..

Most bus lanes operate at peak times only (typically 7.30am to 9.30am or 3.30pm to 6.00pm on Monday to Friday). Outside the hours of operation the lanes can be used by all traffic. The legislation for most bus lanes allows permitted taxis, motorcycles and bicycles to use bus lanes.

Pain in the backside on the Prom today - I had just negotiated the Neville Street traffic lights, heading towards Morrisons - when a motorcyclist, out of nowhere, came up close on my inside and cut across me without signalling, to approach the Pleasureland motorcycle group, immediately after a second motorcyclist tried to do the same but pulled back when my line of traffic started speeding up. I would have been furious if my car had got scratched - why the hell had they not taken the outside lane in the first place?

True. I constantly see motorists ignoring speed-limit signs. Not to mention cars going through amber/red lights, while no-one bats an eyelid (except if it causes a smash!)......Yet when a cyclist breaks rules, fingers instantly point.

And all the cyclists who ignore the fact that cycling on the pavement is illegal no matter which way you dress it up. Completely unforgiveable

Not always so...e.g. cycling on the pavement along the seafront is ok, as it's a shared path. Same applies elsewhere on shared pavements, Benthams Way is another local example.

According to advice issued to Chief Police Officers, the fixed penalty for pavement cycling is to be applied on a discretionary basis. Govt advice states: 'It is not aimed at responsible cyclists who take to a pavement out of fear of traffic - provided they have regard for other users'.
I.e. you can ride on a pavement where circumstances dictate.

I've never heard such a load of twaddle in my life. I do actually own a copy of The Highway Code somewhere and in no part does it say that pavement cycling is allowable. I don't know where you make this up from but I've never heard of it.
