As I understand it - this appears to be vote for Community Policing in the area. With all due respect to these people, they are not trained to deal with the levels of crime that has been escalating in Southport and they do not have the immediate support on the scale that regular Police do. It is wrong to put untrained people at risk and there should be no need. We are informed that Council tax is to be increased nationwide to cover the cost of £millions being spent on the Police Authorities - so the people have a right to expect value for money.

To clarify, 'Community policing' does not just mean PCSO's.

Neighbourhood or Local Policing teams are made up Sergeants, Police Constables and PCSO's who are tasked with policing local areas. The Southport Local Policing team is located at Southport police station and work across the area between Southport to Hightown every day on day and late shifts.
