    News Christmas presents

What are people buying this year for their loved ones?

We have booked a few days away rather than buying presents

I thought the idea was to give rather than receive.

    A) I give cash...it's always well received and also saves the hassle of Xmas shopping.

    B) Almost anywhere has to be warmer than here - unless you're bound for Iceland, lol!

I will probably be buying the usual - items of no use to the receiver but those I could use myself.

The build up to Christmas starts far too early nowadays,as it seems to start around October, and is getting far too commercialised, why do people have to spend so much on a childs Christmas present ? Why not get them a decent present for their birthdays instead ? As that is more of a major event for a child, being another year older,as Christmas seems to be more a time for adults to be in debt for the next 6 to 8 months afterwards, paying back money to their credit cards, banks etc, they also buy and waste too much on food, and then go and get completely drunk for the rest of the day.

Christmas used to be a time for the receiving of gifts, and NOT demanding and getting.......

Just a few bits & bobs between me & Mr Darkside, neither of us need anything much so I've asked him for a bottle of my favourite perfume and a Gin I've not tried before. Will try to remember which to drink and which to wear!
I'm only happy when it rains....

My Dad used to describe Christmas as - 'a load of people rushing about, spending money they haven't got, on a load of stuff for people who don't want it.'
