Yes he's in a position of public scrutiny and should have known better but he isn't the only one at fault and his action wasn't directly aimed at the young girl.
Does it really matter who he spat at - it was in the direction of the girl- the main point is he SPAT and thats DISGUSTING !!

If and when he appears in court, doubtless his solicitor or barrister will be sure to mention Carragher's parade of charity work and the negative impact on his charity work of any sentences he could potentially be handed.
Of course you're sticking up for him because you know him. You admit you're doing that in the same sentence. He could always have you called as a character witness for him.
It doesn't seem to take much for him to react. No more than reminding him of the scoreline of a football match in which a team, for which he once played, lost is sufficient to act as a triggering event for him. He is not as thick skinned as he appears.
In an article he did for the Mail from 3 years ago, he seems to judge spitting in relative terms and as a lesser sin. Though, perhaps this says less about Carragher and more about the cultural views prevalent on the streets of his home town of Bootle.

That's neither a relevant excuse nor a relevant observation, as Carragher is widely reported as saying:
"I lost my head. I shouldn't have done it but I was thinking what is a grown man doing, carrying on like that two or three times with his daughter in the car?"

It doesn't matter, spitting is disgusting but comments are being made that he spat at the girl suggesting deliberately which he didn't.

How do you know he didn't deliberately spit at the girl?

I think he showed his true colours! If someone started having a dig at you would your first reaction be to spit? And not just a little of the end of your tongue but to cough your guts up and hurl it at anyone. Surely swearing or making hand gestures would be most people's reactions before spitting. It just shows he thinks he's above everyone else and that they are below him - far enough below to be spat on. Hardly a moment of madness as he keeps spewing out if he has behaved this way before.
He looked really upset in his interview with Sky - the female interviewer gave him a hard time and deservedly so. He looked pathetic like a child being told off by his Mum. If I was in charge of a charity I wouldn't want such a vile person supporting it.

Not forgetting driving without due care and attention, road rage etc.
His legal representation will be intrigued by Carragher's admission of "focused rage"...

Yes, apparently it's long been difficult to know with Carragher if what he hits is what he was aiming at.
It's rumoured that defence counsel will be offering the following video as supporting evidence...

There’s many odd aspects to this incident, instigated and publicised by Andy Hughes, who it's reported states on his Instagram account that he “hates Scousers” and states on his facebook account that he is “fiercely proud” of his Manchester United dinner plate and that one of his interests is “lying down.”
It is confusing to repeatedly read accounts mentioning that the Adrian Chiles lookalike’s wife, Sarah Hughes, was also travelling in the car at the time. Her husband goading and filming while driving and her daughter reporting that she has just been spit-showered in the face by Jamie Carragher would both be events that would seem worthy of intervention and comment.
Andy Hughes indeed reports that his wife was not in the car. But Hughes also reports that Greater Manchester Police, during a home visit, gave him serious advice about the use of his mobile phone while behind the wheel in a parked car. He reports that the Police understood that at the time of the incident, he was behind the wheel of a parked car (with the engine on) and that his vehicle was “basically stopped.” From the sounds of it, Hughes has not so much as been cautioned.
This would be despite the fact that the evidence from his own footage demonstrates clearly that he was driving while filming, on what appears to be a dual carriageway (in Salford), with one hand off the steering wheel to hold the filming device, and the device being monitored and manipulated to record the best reaction shots of another driver in another vehicle travelling alongside, all the while he was actively goading and engaging with that other driver, travelling alongside.

If this was put into the context of a non football related situation and into the realms of a conventional occupation it would have been seen as an Act of Gross Misconduct.
That would have been seen as a possible Loss of Employment situation.
The business of using the mobile phone whilst driving would be a fixed penalty notice and an automatic £60.00 fine and if contested and it goes to court then that could disqualify the offender and impose a maximum £1000.00 fine.

I think fortune has so far favoured Jamie Carragher. While not wearing a seatbelt [which is pertinent in his ability to have leant out the side of his Range Rover], and arguably while not driving with due care and attention, he lowered his driver’s side window and then spat in the face of a minor, a fourteen year old girl, and yet although it’s been reported that Greater Manchester Police has stated that the incident [post-investigation] has been recorded as [Section 39] assault [albeit, descriptively, battery would perhaps seem to be more precise], and despite the existence of disseminated, clear video recorded evidence, the GMP has, on the basis of the desire of the involved parties, reached the decision, it seems, not to have referred to the Crown Prosecution Service.
I agree, TQR, that Carragher’s actions and the attendant publicity and negative reaction could definitely be perceived by Sky as his lacking fidelity and being a reason for terminating Caragher’s employment contract. He potentially / actually was literally spitting at their subscribers / customers, a father and daughter, football fans, returning home from a high profile football match for which Sky provided broadcast coverage. It’s probably a given that Sky has a provision in their employees’ contracts that employees should not bring Sky’s name into disrepute, or be injurious to their profile, and that such an offence is classed and listed as gross misconduct. The GMP’s decision will doubtless have been received with multiple sighs of relief by Carragher.
I do feel a flicker of surprise that the absorbing BBC interview of Carragher re the incident, alone and taken in combination with the statements from his other interviews, has not seemed to have attracted comment.

In the midst of the hype and hullabaloo surrounding the England football team's progress through the World Cup competition, Sky Sports, without any fanfare, quietly reintroduced their resident Football Expert & Columnist, Mr Jamie Carragher...
http://www.skysports.com/football/ne...tia-semi-final
Jamie Carragher on England's World Cup journey and the Croatia semi-final
His article is dated 11/7/18.
I see here,
2018 FIFA World Cup
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_World_Cup
...that the World Cup's opening match happened on 14/06/18; and that his old chum, Luis Suarez, and his national team, Uruguay, were dismissed from the World Cup in an elimination round, on 06/07/18.
The timing of Sky Sports's delayed reintroduction of Carragher, and their delayed introduction of his World Cup articles (11/7/18),
http://www.skysports.com/jamie-carragher
...appear to have been meticulously planned.

I thought that spitting in public was illegal in the UK?
