Brexit and the DUP
It looks like the DUP are going to have a disproportionate say in Brexit negotiations, what a farce when a small group hired to prop up the Tories, can so easily pull the rug out.

A group of 17th century religious bigots no less. Of course what it does do is show that a divided Ireland is a nonsense. The UK gains nothing from having NI in its portfolio.
However if there is ever unification, please send the protestants to Glasgow rather than Liverpool !

I agree, sell NI to Eire, and it would also be cost effective I guess to give a nice bonus to the NI residents that want to be part of the UK - to move here

Karma is a *****. It appears when BoJo & Co were writing lies on the sides of busses, they hadn't considered the can of worms waiting over the water. And Theresa's desperate tenuous grip on power reminds me of the song 'The Snake', where despite the poor woman clutching an ailing snake to her bosom, it bites her, uttering the words '"Oh shut up, silly woman, " said the reptile with a grin "You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in'.
How do you keep a soft border with Europe when we are outside the EU? How do you close the border without tearing up the Good Friday agreement? It's almost as if the Brexit Club haven't put much thought into it, rather they've been guided by the likes of Cambridge Analytica & the rest that masterminded Trump's victory.

I've no clue what the answer is, but you'd have thought that somebody in power might have considered it before starting the whole debacle. Then again, they are still making it up as they are going along, so why would we, the great unwashed, have the remedy. Interesting times.

There never has been a hard border between Ireland and the UK since the last World War. The only exception being during the seventies when the troubles arose.

I cannot blame the DUP for Brexit proofing their interests against the
possibility of a future Labour Government.

What difference does that make? There's been a customs border since the 1920s. Historical borders are meaningless. There wasn't membership of the EU either. Now it isn't just a border between NI and Ireland, it is between Britain and the EU. Different circumstances, different can of worms.

You really think the DUP are taking that into consideration? They'd have gotten into bed with the Pope for 1.5 billion.

Northern Ireland wants to remain British.
How precarious is their lot with the weight of the EU plus Eire plus a pro IRA Corbyn?

Customs border my a-r-s-e. When I 'worked' over there farmers in the so called border area regularly trotted livestock between Eire and Ulster to claim EC subsidies from both.

The debacle was started by Cameron whilst in opposition as a means of gaining power. Of course he never believed that the referendum he promised would have the result that he didnt want.

Not just the DUP, today we discover that Davis not only has no idea of the effects of Brexit on the British economy, but NOTHING has been done to even try to calculate the implications,
Talk about the blind leading those who can't see, you couldn't make it up.
The whole damn thing is becoming a farce, yet could still have devastating consequences for this country.

From where I'm sat the Brexit show makes for better entertainment than watching TV. And is certainly a better pastime than listening to the crap emanating from both sides of the house, over here.
Just be yourself, no one else is better qualified!!

This was always going to be a big stumbling block. Can't believe anybody didn't see this coming.

Give northern Ireland back to Ireland. Those living there who want to be part of the UK (Northern Ireland isn't British) can come and live on the mainland or a Scottish island.
