Do you work in immigration?
The 'borders' are manned.
UK's open borders are part of free movement in Europe's single market.
3 million European migrants reside in The UK.

Often the borders are unmanned, on occaisions there are as little as 19 staff on duty covering the ports & airports of the NW.

Try these for starters, one old, one recent, both carry the same tired Tory message of cuts, cuts and more cuts, yet trying to say that the budgets are protected or even increased.

We are not party to SCHENGEN all travellers should be subject to security checks and this country has the absolute right to bar anyone from entering the country, where ever they come from, the fact that nothing is done to carry out full security checks is entirely the fault of our own government.
How many times does it have to be said, the EU permits freedom of movement for workers, anyone else, holiday makers, health tourists, those turning up expecting to be housed and fed, can be turned back at our borders, failure to do so is our own government's fault.

I am confident that after Brexit resources and funds will be improved at border controls.
Not that the above answers my point
Exiting the EU will lower immigration figures.
Alikado's claims.Quote"We currently have the option to man Borders but choose not to."
Free movement of migrants will end after Brexit.
Therefore it is certain the figures will go down again as it has done already this year since the Brexit vote.

How many times do you need this point explaining?
I shall try a John Craven News round slot
Continental Europe has Schengen.
France the nearest country to The UK has Schengen.
The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union of 28 countries. It operates an internal (or single) market which allows free movement of goods, capital, services and people between member states.
EU countries
The EU countries are:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
You’re not from an EEA country
You must have a valid passport to enter the UK. It must be valid for the whole of your stay.
You may also need a visa, depending on which country you’re from.
Before you board
Your ‘carrier’ (eg airline or transport provider) will check your passport and other travel documents. They’ll send this information electronically to Border Force.
You can ask to see the information about you that’s been sent by carriers. You’ll have to pay a £10 fee.
