Where do you shop online that takes a couple of weeks for items to arrive?

I could order some filament today and have it tomorrow.

Right, just had a quick look on CPC, PLA filament is £38.39 for 750g I pay £16 for 1kg delivered free next day..... and there is your problem.

Now if it was in Southport and cost lets say £20 to £24 I'd buy it locally. But I'm never going to pay the equivalent of £51.18 AND drive to Preston and back for the same product.
This is where the problem lies - it is not with the internet which the Council are quick to blame. If the overheads were cheaper then the goods would cost less. Unfortunately, business rates in town were set according to floor space, I believe. The larger chain stores could afford to pay this rate, but the smaller shops could not and this - along with the charges for car parking, has led to many of them closing. However, in the South of England, there are towns that have reverted back to market towns, with small enterprise shops doing very well and where car parking is very cheap compared to Southport.
The internet is not to blame, for business people it is just another competitor on the market place.

The Business Rates are set by the Government, the Council only collects it.

I do hope so. The House of Fraser still has not refunded the money that it promised in June, perhaps I will get it back now.

Doubt that, you're owed money by the previous owners of House of Fraser not the new owners.

You'll have to make a claim through the administrators... although at less than 1p in the pound, I wouldn't bother!
