    Australia.

Given that the Aussies have been caught cheating by tampering with the ball in the test , should they forfeit the test match and or the series .

They are going to lose the match and series anyway. However, in view of the fact that the incident was pre-meditated by senior members of the team both the captain and the vice captain should be sacked permanently. To make matters worse their action in nominating the newest and least experienced member of the team to carry out the act was gutless and unconscionable.

Ball tampering has gone on in the game for years with the incidents by individuals usually being spontaneous. Pre-planned cheating is quite different and they should suffer serious consequences as a result.

In 2010 three Pakistan cricketers were banned for between 5 and 10 years by the ICC. They were banned for spot fixing in that they arranged with crooked bookmakers to deliberately bowl no-balls on specific balls in specific overs. Is the Australian cricket teams actions on this occasion in trying to illegally influence a match outcome, any better or worse than the Pakistani activities 8 years ago? I hope they throw the book at them.

If they'd used a bit of white tape wrapped around a finger and not bright yellow nobody would have been any wiser.

Ha!Ha! Very funny. Anyway - they can cheat all they like and then be home in seventeen hours before anyone thinks about it!

How would that have worked then, given what they were trying to achieve?

White or flesh coloured tape wouldn't have been as noticable.

Joe Root said there was no signs of ball tampering during the Ashes humiliation, does that mean we were so bad they didn't need to try it to win.

Joe Root is simply pouring oil on troubled waters. And the dirt had to be in the palm of the hand to achieve their cheating objectives.

The dirt was stuck to the sticky side of the tape so as to act like sandpaper.

No it wasn't. They were actually using a piece of sandpaper in the palm of the hand.
