You are OBVIOUSLY not in a Union so how come you think you know so much about strikes.
People DON'T go on strike so they can lose money and have a few weeks at home struggling to make ends meet.
The sooner idiots like you realise this the better.

No - I'm in a relatively well paid job. I was in a poorly paid job but, instead of whining and bleating about how awful it was, I got off my arse and did something about it!

I'm afraid you are the idiot here. You are correct in perceiving I am not in a union although it didn't take the brains of an Archbishop to work that out. I despise today's unions as the antiquated edifices they are and, it's buffoons like you who keep the politburo leadership in the land of milk and honey they enjoy at your expense.
I work in a heavily unionised industry and the unions have called four, two day strikes since I've worked there - can you guess how much they have gained for their members? A big fat nowt, nothing, rien, nada - they have however been peerless in losing them eight days pay!

When your a bus driver, there are few option than working for the company that runs the majority of the public transport in your town.
I've not heard any bus driver whining and bleating about how awful it is. They are after an in line with inflation pay rise. Is that to much to ask after several years of austerity?

So being a bus driver precludes you from bettering yourself does it - you dissapoint me - I expected better from you than taking a contrary position just for the hell of it.

You've clearly no understanding of how unions came about and why. The employment rights you have today are due to unions fighting for every single one of them, and they have been fought long and hard. No right has been given, it has had to be fought for. Do a little bit of research. Look up the matchgirls strike in 1888 and then come back to me and tell me it's all about money, because it's not.
There is a light and it never goes out.

Sometimes this stuff writes itself - nothing I have said could lead you to definitively state I know nothing about unions. You are right about the unions of the past and I thank you for the twee history lesson - bless them.
But that is my point they still live in the past repeating over and over again your mantra of nothing being given it has to be fought for. What utter tripe - the union bosses want all you lemmings to believe that because - and this will come as a bit of a revelation - without you swallowing that they are an irrelevance. If you all realised that then they'd lose the fat salary, the expenses, the grace & favour home and generous pension - that wouldn't do now would it.

Devaluation of the £pound following Brexit has been the main cause of recent inflation, raising cost of imported foods/fuels etc. No wonder public sector and transport workers are agitating to adjust pay to compensate.
