Anyone go to the Food Festival

Went to town yesterday to pick up a few bits and was surprised at the number of people in the actual town. I thought the tourists would have been at the Food Festival. So decided to call there after.

Food Festival? Not from my perspective!
First noticeable fact was that there appeared to be more dogs than people. Dogs of every breed, brushed sleek or with dolly dressings on them - dragging their owners on leads, and barking to get to other dogs, forming a massive tangle of lines to negotiate. Not one dog appeared to be trained in any form at all. Without the leads there probably would have been one mother of a dog fight. Obviously, Dog Outing Day for owners to show off their personal canine superiority.
To ensure that the dog owners were catered for, there was a large number of catering outlets provided sickening, genetically modified grease dripping fried meats and potatoes promoted under various exotic titles - but still fried meat and chips! A few of the outlets proudly displayed a food rating - but most, not surprisingly, did not. Some stalls were disgustingly dirty, with weeks old filth, at one a woman used some tongs to take a large piece of fat from some meat and place it in a nearby waste bin, bang the tongs a few times on the inside of the bin and then continue to use the same tool to serve the food. Another food server was energetically scratching at her hair while cooking over food, a guy was seen to empty a waste receptacle, similar to that used in caravans, and empty it in a corner of the park.
The largest queues were at the beer stalls, with flat beer being served in plastic cups and large numbers of people, plus dogs, sitting in loud groups swilling down the liquid to quench their thirst while the nearby dogs had nothing! The edging trees offered privacy for those who could not reach the nearby toilets.
The smell of so much stale fat, and fried meat caused a remark from someone nearby, who felt as others must have done - physically sick!Perhaps that is why they had left to go into the town.
Apart from that, inflatable entertainment had been provided for the few children around - it was highly beneficial that on this hot muggy day the sun had not chosen to shine - for the inflatables would have been unbearable for the kids.
Well - it would appear just like the other visitors, I quickly left. It was certainly nothing like other Food Festivals that I have been to. Perhaps, others had a different point of view?

Said, is there anything you actually enjoy or approve of? If so then perhaps spend more time doing those things rather than regaling us with tedious stories of things you don't like.

Just been myself. It was packed with people having a good time. A few dogs, not causing any problems.

If you called there after why didn't you post your opinion of the food festival rather than copy & paste someone else's!

Weak attempt to denigrate what was an enjoyable event. We took the dog and, yes, there were other dog owners present but not in the the over-emphasised numbers suggested by said (or should it be 'sad').
We came away having enjoyed Thai pies with some fresh tomatoes and brownies.
The heavily critical report above is unjustified and what I have come to expect from this 'almost troll'.

a guess said you don't like dogs ,wont try to persuade you of their joys and alms .but you know, its our fellow humans that one can say its at best one in ten for most that prove true and caring .the rest well its down to an open heart and accepting bearing of the others behaviours, that make that one found worth the caring.

We had a lovely couple of hours wandering around the food and drink fair. Lots of families enjoying the sunshine. The stalls were all doing a roaring trade. We had some lovely samosas with home-made lemonade. A good time was had by all (except said it would seem).

We don't know what Said thought of it as he copy & pasted someone else's opinion, or at least that's what he has intimated.

Perhaps he can post his own thoughts assuming he hasn't all ready!

I went on Sunday. It was a glorious day. I saw a few dogs, but not many. There were perhaps thousands of people thoroughly enjoying themselves in the sunshine.

I didn't inspect the hygiene of every single stall, but the food I had (ostrich burger) was from a clean stall. The pint of beer I had was perfectly acceptable.

I didn't see a single outlet that I thought was filthy. Nor did I see people peeing all over the park. I saw loads of people wandering around or sat on benches having a good time. No antisocial behaviour. If I had to have a bit of a grouch, it was that the queues were so long, but that is a tribute to the success of the event. The bins dotted around were emptied regularly.

I bought some superb local cheese. Those stalls selling produce to take home were all clean too.

I had a lovely few hours there with the family. I'll certainly be attending next year.

Most of 'saids' posts are an attempt to be controversial. Don't feed the troll.

Said is a devout Tory, so why would anyone expect the description to mirror reality. To listen to them everything is fine and record amounts of monies are available to ALL.
