I've seen several Facebook items declaring support for 'poor Ant' and that we should all be behind him in his hour of need. How he should be 'back on our screens where he belongs'.
Well excuse me? If that had been your kid or grandkid in the car he hit, you'd be baying for blood. No doubt he has got problems. So effing what, we've all got problems, but if I'd got rat-arsed and driven my car into another, I doubt many would be moved by my plight.
Instead of excusing celebrities, why not make an example of them. Might hit home harder than any Christmas drink-driving campaign.

The Saturday Night Takeaway host was taken away by police around 4pm on Sunday after he was involved in the smash in South West london.
According to The Sun, witnesses said the 42-year-old ‘looked dazed’ after hitting two cars in his black Mini sports car – after it was thought Ant’s veered into the wrong lane while coming off a roundabout on Lower Richmond Road.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan police confirmed to Metro.co.uk a 42-year-old man was taken away for questioning on Sunday.
They said: ‘Police in Richmond were called to Lower Richmond Road, SW14 at 15:59hrs on Sunday, 18 March following reports of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles. ‘Officers, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended.
‘A number of individuals were treated at the scene for minor injuries only. A child passenger from one of the cars has been taken to hospital for a check up as a precaution. ‘A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving after failing a roadside breathalyser test.
Why don't they just sack the idiot! He will not be missed and I do not see what all the fuss is about. Had he been working in a normal job he would have been sacked a long time ago - and good riddance!
