Annoying corruptions of English.
I keep hearing the phrase
"Can I get?...….."when stood behind a person being served at a counter.

That's a pet peeve of mine.
I suppose language evolves, so eventually it will become acceptable, but it still annoys me.
Starting every sentence with the word 'So...' irritates me too. Nothing wrong with it, it just grates.

Going to ASDAs or Tescos.
I am tempted to wish them a happy supermarket crawl.

Don't get me started on this!
I think a lot of it is because a whole generation of people managed to get by without seeing anything in print, but the use of social media forced them to actually write things that they had never seen spelled out. Coupled with this is the immersion in American TV - I'm not anti-American, but these things are picked up and copied, like 'cool'. A third reason is predictive text.
The 'should of', 'would of' is an example of people never seeing 'should have' and 'would have' written down, and 'of' does sound like 'have', especially when people abbrreviate it to 'should've' when they speak. Of course, 'should of' is meaningless, but this doesn't seem to bother people.
The ones that grate on me are a mixture of the above reasons, with pure ignorance thrown in:
'Then' instead of 'than': "I have more apples then you".
'Defiantly' in stead of 'definitely'. I'm sure that people who type "I'm defiantly going to the show" actually say "definitely" when they speak, so perhaps this is a predictive text thing.
'Payed' instead of 'paid'.
When people (like me) post on these threads, we are often accused of being the 'grammar police', and people say “Why does it matter, as long as we understand it?” Well, if you take that to its logical conclusion, we would never have developed from caveman- like grunts, although if you go in certain pubs in Southport I can see what they mean.

The written word is slightly different on a Forum.
Posting is an informal and more note based.
It should be inclusive as a person's opinion is more valuable than their ability in English.
I notice that most of the spelling police are posters who always support diversity and pro immigration yet their stance on correct English affects those using a 2nd language.
A 2nd language is notoriously evident in print even with a good spoken English.
I agree with you on formal writings though.
Technology allows the correct formation open to all.

"No" instead of "know".
Usually used by the "could of" brigade.

"You're too good to be true, can't take my eyes off of you"
However, nothing is worse than the use of "pacific" instead of "specific".

I used to be annoyed by this, but when I researched it I found that it's a valid English expression, as in 'ill gotten gains'.
It's largely fallen out of use this side of the pond, though.
