    Aid Organisations

Do the recent revelations deter you from donating to these organisations? If so,what would they have to do to restore public trust?
Whatever it is - I blame Brexit!

Yes. I will not be donating to again Oxfam until they stop bleating on about the how 82% of wealth created worldwide went to the richest 1%. Those working long hours earning just enough to feed their families have only themselves to blame. To restore my trust they should cut out the politics.

I suspect it will not just be Oxfam , although they have dominated the news up to now. Similar allegations are emerging about other international charities.

All the dirt is starting to surface regarding the running of certain charity shops.

My fourteen year old grandson is volunteering every Saturday morning at a well known charity shop in London..
It is very scary when all the sad news iis involving children and putting them in harms way. ..

I am so saddened by all this news, as I am all for children giving some time to helping others...
What a dreadful thing that news is and the consequences are enormous.

May those involved in all this saga rot in hell.

Sorry missed this thread...I started another and this is
    my post.

Regarding your question. Yes I will withhold donations
until more investigations are held against those in charge.

I refuse to donate to any of the large organisations anyway, and I do not donate to 'Fund me' sites. I will donate personally to those who are local and who are obviously in desperate need. The large organisations are a business not a charity. They have millions of volunteer workers, working for no salary - yet they own large premises in one of the most expensive cities in the World and pay administration staff excellent wages. The senior management are on higher pay than the prime Minister - how is that a charity? They receive donations from all over the World, they are given huge grants from the Government - yet when a World disaster occurs, the money very seldom reaches the people most in need. They run charity shops. only a tiny percentage of the money raised in these shops is paid to the charity that they promote. i.e. British Heart Foundation pays 4p of every pound raised in a charity shop to it charity, The SA pays only 6p of every pound raised, Save the Children 4p of every pound raised. Many charities run associated profit making business on the back of the Charities that they promote. Huge concerns should be broken up to allow for smaller, local and more effective charities which would increase the amount of money raised because people would have more confidence if donated money was made more transparent.
These charities promote their charities with video clips published to encourage donations - many of these are false! I know of one particular video where the children were asked if they could really cry for the camera, the whole video was acted.
As for the Go Fund Me pages, there have been so many abuses, so many people begging for money simply because they can, not because of need but for greed.

I agree with all that , in the past I had a work friend who had volunteered for one of these charities in her spare time , men in big cars and suits started turning up and telling them to do more , do it this way etc ......

she did not go out the door quietly !! , so nothing has changed in years , they continue to pork on the misery of others
always reverse to see what you have run over ...

My sister worked for one of the leading charities when she was in London - she did not want to move back North because of the high salary that she was earning.

If you donate by cheque, put on the cheque

To be spent locally, otherwise it is sent to head office. Usually London.
