20 mph Zone - Accidents reduced by 65 percent

I lived on Guildford Rd. almost opposite Central Avenue for many years. It's hardly a tiny cul-de-sac is it? Consequently I cannot see the problem with the speed restriction sign at its entrance.

Looking at the pic in the article, it's off Guildford Road, but it's not Central Avenue.

That's quite different. Being pedantic however, why would Ainsdale motorists be concerned, Guildford Road is in Birkdale!! I must confess too that, in spite of my years living just up the road, I had completely forgotten that cul-de-sac, even though I'd walked past it 100s of times. Mind you it was 58 years ago!

Yep. It isn't Central Avenue. it is still GuildfordRoad and is the cul de sac between house numbers 278 and 302. (According to Google maps.)

If you drive along Sussex Road it's 20mph until Ash St lights, then it's 30mph for all of 50 yards then back to 20mph!

Tarleton bypass is worse than that, it is 50mph where the speed cameras are, then it goes to the national speed limit for 20 metres or so, then it drops to (I think) 40mph over the bridge then once over the bridge is goes back to the national speed limit!
