Parked outside KFC getting some food and someone hit the back of my car and drove off.
Red Vectra plate something like YC 06 ???
Anyone have any info on this?
P.S. if this was you, police will be knocking on your door so I advise you hand yourself in.

Why do you need to know if the Police will be knocking on the culprits door, surely they could inform you of the driver

Please, quit with the stupid smart arse comments, across the road from KFC is not double yellow lines. And regardless of where I was parked, someone hit me, not the other way round.
P.s. Your name says it all..............................

Bet they won't...... Even if you had the full VIN!!! They don't even come out to RTA's unless there are injuries...

Failing to stop after an accident is an offence - an offender still has up to 24 hours to report such an incident. Might be a case of someone having no insurance, tax or even been drinking and left the scene ASAP.

Exactly. I wouldn't mind so much if I was driving an old banger but I'm not.
Plus the principle of a hit and run is a no go for me.
Appreciate it if people can keep an eye out, small place Southport

Yes...... But without a complete VIN.......
"Red Vectra plate something like YC 06 ???"
there is little hope of tracing the car and it will be a low priority for the Police. Shame for the OP but sadly a case of Tango Sierra

The police will not tell you the name and address of a person owning a car. A lady hit our car , breaking the wing mirror and our son was sitting in the car and took the full reg number. She admitted driving down the road but said she didn't hit our car. Our son who was only in his early teens would have had to stand up in court and then it was his word against hers. We were told to forget about trying to claim and had to pay for the damage ourselves !!!

Across the road from KFC there are zig-zag lines, double yellows, a bus parking area and a disabled parking area.
Were you legally parked?
However that does not mean that the person driving the vehicle that bumped into you was not in the wrong!

That is very bad - I would have thought there would have been damage to the woman's car at the same height as your mirror and there would have been micro flakes of her car paint on your mirror? As for a nice young teenager giving truthful evidence in court - why would he state that a certain car with a certain driver had caused the damage, what has he got to gain by saying that if it were not true? On the other hand - why would a driver deny that they hit your car - what have they got to gain? That would be my consideration on hearing the evidence.

If, as seems to be suggested, the registration is known, then a check can be made as to whether it's insured on the AskMid website:
http://www.askmid.com/
The DVLA will release information on vehicles providing certain criteria and safeguards are met:

I'll speak slowly.....
The OP's quote (above in bold italics) would seem to suggest that only part of the VIN is known which, even in the unlikely event the police would be interested, is of little or no use.
