Sefton Advocacy is an independent registered charity (based in Gordon House, 3-5 Leicester Street, Southport) which provides a free generic advocacy service to safeguard and support vulnerable residents of Sefton. The service assists residents to address issues which are affecting their lives and wellbeing as well as support to make important decisions or changes to their lives. The service acts as a voice for the person wanting help and assistance and represents them via one to one casework support. The advocates will listen but not judge or impose their own views but will research and provide information to make informed decisions. Issues which can be dealt with range from community care, benefits, debt and finances, housing, health, adult and children safeguarding to name a few. Our purpose is to enable vulnerable people to get their voices heard in decisions affecting their lives and to support and represent through the decision making processes. We promote social inclusion and social justice and self-advocacy where possible. We also facilitate two service user groups on a weekly basis.
