dated 1857, not sure of value but know what I paid for it 20 years ago.
can anyone give me and idea of value?

HI,
You photograph does not show the back stamp off good enough for me so use for dating.

it looks as though it is late 19th century and looks like it was made by one of the many factories at the town of Dresden.

Items like this have been reproduced may times.
If you would like to bring it into the shop I could value it much better.

Hi John thanks for the quick response. Where is the shop? ive got a couple of other pieces but unfortunately they were broken in a house move a few years ago. I kept hold of them in case they were worth repairing? Ive also got an unmarked cat faced pug. He's in perfect condition.
